Has anyone gone to his place? I'm not officially in the market for a guitar, though I have G.A.S, so you never know, but I'll be in LA a couple times this summer, and I'm curious if anyone has ever worked with him personally? Is he in the unfortunate situation where non-serious buyers ask to play his expensive guitars all day long and he hates getting one more? If so, I wouldn't bother him. But if it's not a big deal, who could resist that candy shop?! Er..I mean "research center". And to clarify, I own my fair share of expensive guitars, so I'm no tire kicker. I just happen to not "need" one right now! :) But as everyone here says, knowing good guitars means playing good guitars. So it's gotta happen somewhere, somehow.

I have, he is a nice guy and had no problems with me trying out the best guitars, even ones in process of sale. But I have many dealings with him in the past, so that obviously makes things more comfortable for him. It is his home after all. Do you want people in your house trying out your valuable stuff? I would just talk to him via phone and be honest that you probably won't be buying, and don't tell him you want to try all this good guitars, just pick 2 or 3 he has you are super curious about. Again, I have dealt with him and that may have been the only reason I was allowed over, with a friend who also bought several guitars from him. I will say the most interesting guitar was a weird Conde Hermanos negra that was from Felipe V shop. It had weird detailing, including a 12 th fret that did not align with body! But man it sounded better then all the other guitars in the shop. Also he had a Pedro De miguel that we all agreed normally don't sound so hot, usually very stiff, but this single blanca was like no other I have ever played, and he agreed. For sure the guy knows his guitars and is not like your typical used car salesman type personality. That's why I recommend him over all other guitar dealers I have delt with.
