Hello - Hermanos Sanchis Lopez Content

Hey there, I hope this is the right place to post this, but I just thought I would say a proper 'hello' as it were. Been lurking here for some time, but have not joined up - until now that is. I have been playing electric guitar in various bands since I began learning at the age of twelve, so that's like round 20 odd years now - from school concerts at first up to small theatres and the like until not so long ago. Well the time finally came when I thought I needed to give the ears a good rest from volume and rock and roll for a while after my last group disbanded, and having many Spanish friends plus having been to various bits of Spain over the years, I began to really get the Flamenco bug. I have various nice old valve amps and a few nice electrics from over the years, so after being left some money by a relative and from scrapping together some other cash, I thought it was high time I finally should get something to learn Flamenco on and treat myself. So I did a little research and played a few guitars, and finally settled on a Hermanos Sanchis Lopez 2F Blanca. Sounds really cool - and the more I play it the more I love it. I have been playing for a few months now and good god it's challenging - which I'm loving of course! My left hand from playing electric guitar for some time is good I think, but the right hand? I don't know how people do it! I am progressing well I think, so all is good. I also used to set up and repair guitars for many years for a shop I used to work for, which has stood me in good stead, as I discovered when changing strings for the first time, after inspecting the bone saddle, there were what appeared to be pits/air holes in it. Also I found the nut way too low on the 'D' string (eg not adding to a rasping type quality, but to more an irritating buzz which was not occurring on the other strings), so I bought some nice quality dense water buffalo bone saddle and nut blanks, and with my files, nut files and feeler gauges, I made up a nice new nut a saddle for it. I also gave the frets a good polish with some 0000 wire wool, and hey presto - she sounds even better! Nice balanced Blanca sound. Obviously no Barbero or Santos Hernandez etc, but she does me just fine for now. The tuners were great too, but just for fun I thought I would try some Rubners out on it to see what all the hype was about – cool tuners – very pleasing (as were the originals), but at tad more decorative, which I like also. Anyhow, just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone’s insightful and great contributions on this forum – it’s really helped me fuel my passion as it were. Here are some obligatory pics for the sake of it. Cheers, Dan
