advice on a guitar buying

Hey , as i've said before , im going to barcelona to see the FCB VS español match in 5/5/12 and i wanted to take advantage of the much lower prices in spain to buy a flamenco guitar (i'm new to flamenco and im planing on spending about 500-700 euros max)
i found only 2 kind of decent shops (according to recommendations) : casa luthier and casa parramon in barcelona.

and before you tell me that prices in barcelona arn't that great , the predenio saez 22 cost here in israel 1100 euros and the yamaha which you talk about all the time is 710 euros , so anything in barcelona is better then here

these are the emails i got when enquired for guitars

from casa parramon

Studio qualities:

XIPRER LAMINAT 215,00
XIPRER LAMINAT 285,00
XIPRER QLS 362,00
SICOMOR 400,00
MIXTA (const.flamenca/fusta clàssica) 500,00
XIPRER 560,00

Concert professional qualities

Juan Montes 800,00
XIPRER 1 1.200,00

from casa luthier

We work with different brands. They make nice guitars around the prices that your asking for :

Camps M7S - 529€

Hernandez estudio - 575€

Vicente Carrillo Alcazaba blanca - 555€

Prudencio Sáez 22/24 - 586€

Vicente Carrillo Alcazaba negra - 723€

Antonio Picado 49 F - 745€

Vicente Carrillo La Cañada - 1008€

do you recommend on any of those?
or maybe on another shop in barcelona and a difftrent guitar?
in the end , im playing guitar for 10 years, mostly electric , but i know a good guitar when i see one , so i wont get ripped off too much, just need some help from people who know these kind of guitars better so i can get the most for my money

and one last question , does any of you have experiance with jose antonio fuentez the luthier? what do you know about him?

sorry for the long post and thanks for you help :)

You wont get anything serious in Barcelona. Trying visit Sevilla or Granada...

I was trying to buy a guitar too in Barca four years ago. But nothing special!

i know it's not the best place, but i'm with my dad - it's to celebrate me finishing my army service together and we didn't plan on leaving barca when we booked the trip and it's not like here in israel where everything is close ^^ to get to granada is like 16 hours , and what i can get in barca still beats the hell out of anything in israel

You wont get anything good in Barcelona my friend. But with this price range Casa Luthier is the best choice. All other markets are for tourists like me and you.

The best advice would be.. take a friend with you who can play very good. They wont even show you good guitars if you arent good...even not if you ask for that. But for 500euros.....doesnt matter...

Nah, I regularly drove to Granada from Santander in under 10 hours. You could get there in 8 Keep an eye out for a low end Bernal. You could do a lot worse.

mottallica--well you are going there anyways so why not spend a few hours at casa luthier and check them out--you have nothing to lose since you already have a ticket and have invested time and energy. you may find something you like or you may discover for your price range you do not like them. also, do not limit yourself to new guitars--there may be some used guitars that you might like.

as to your list--that is something you gotta discover for yourself since all of the guitars you mention are factory guitars and there is a lot of variability with factory made guitars. that said, the saez may work for you as they seem to have a favorable reputation from posts i have read at various sites and it fits your price range.

well , i'm only going to use public transportation , therefore i'll be very surprised if i can beat even 14 hours, and even 6 hours, back and forth wastes a full day which i prefer on using to enjoy the sights

and keith , wll thats pretty much what i planned on doing , since i've been playing guitar for 10 years already i know a good guitar , just not that experienced with flamenco, i'm also going to start checking some here the be abl to compare better
jsut wanted to know if somthing is recommeded like the yamaha that is mentioned a lot in the forum

anyways thanks a lot to all for you advice :)

mottallica--i am not sure if you know of this guy who is a luthier from israel who has sold a few guitars through guitarsalon. his price range may be outside of your price range but he may be a good resource as well as a guitar buddy.

I was in mottallica's position before. Years ago I went to Barcelona for a business conference and I had only one afternoon to buy my guitar (not to mention they have siesta) before returning to the hotel for the company gala dinner at 6:30 pm. Obviously one cannot buy one's dream guitar in a few hours. Since you know guitar, my advice is just buy one which is acceptable to you and hopefully, it will be a few years afterwards before you want to upgrade.

The Vicente Carillo Alcazaba (blanca and negra) and Canada are Tomatito models. You may find sound samples in Youtube.
