RE: Paco De Lucia plays my new Tsior... (in reply to beno)

ORIGINAL: beno Oh, c'mon man! Tell us more! I rushed backstage after the concert and was told by security that "nobody was going in". I told him that I am friends with el Payo Humberto, who hadn't seen Paco for 15 years, and would really like to reconnect. I kept forcing the issue until the guy called who I assume was Paco's agent. By this time, there were 50 people behind me -- she came out of the dressing room and said that "half of you need to go". 25 or so of us went in, after which we were stopped by another agent, who culled the group again. At this point there are around 12 of us. The agent says "autographs and pictures only, nothing more". She sees my guitar and says "you are not taking that out. Paco is hungry and tired, you must realize that". I start arguing with her, and then Paco comes out of the dressing room. He sees Humberto -- this scene was priceless because when Paco exclaimed "El Payo?!", Humberto only responded with his trademark "HAHAHAHA" -- they hug, etc. Paco says something about having to eat, but then motions to Humberto to follow him. Humberto translates: "He says you can play for them while they're eating!". At this point, only four of us are allowed to go backstage -- Humberto, his wife, my brother, and me. Humberto announces himself as "Paco's maestro", after which Paco's group laughs, but then Humberto offers some proof: :) So then I played a few pieces for him, including a solea by Nino Ricardo... it was a crazy experience!

Not really, he was super tired after the show. He did like my playing, though, but he couldn't resist making a snarky comment -- "your guitar was out of tune during that last piece". I had changed my strings the day before, lol. @ Doit - Nope, I didn't want him to sign anything... not a huge fan of other musicians signing my guitar... I guess I should have brought one of Paco's CD or something, but I'm OK with just the picture and the memories :)
