Do not procrastinate! 
For many years my mother asked me to record my flamenco guitar playing. I procrastinated and rationalized and became inundated with my work. I could have found a few minutes here and there but I neglected to do so.

Last weekend we were invited to Los Angeles for a Baptism for our grandnephew. Have guitar will travel. My wife’s family is from Spain and we get together and enjoy flamenco with the family and friends several times a year.

This weekend we are going to Los Angeles to enjoy our daughter’s graduation from UCLA. In the mean time (just a few hours ago) my mother passed away and the funeral is Tuesday. Mom was 90 and super active physically and mentally with an outstanding sense of humor. You are never prepared for such events in your life.

Rather then tell our daughter that someone special in her life is no longer with us we have elected to remain quiet until Monday morning. No decision on such a topic is correct. You are wrong regardless of your position.

Now I have to contend with telling our daughter. We will enjoy her graduation on Sunday, father’s day. What better gift for a father than to have his child graduate from college?

My point is do not wait for anything in life. Doing so may open a void that you cannot resolve. I realize I should have recorded my guitar work for my mother. Now I will do so for the satisfaction of having a memory of what my mother wanted me to do. I have to excuse myself for my procrastination.

Tom, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. What you said is so true. I wish you well during this difficult time and congratulations on your daughters graduation. Happy Father's Day.

I'm sorry for your loss Tom. My daughter graduated high school this week, and I can imagine the pride you must feel at your daughter graduating from such a great university. I wish you the best in this difficult time.

Tom,

Just came across your post. Sorry for your loss, and happy for you for your daughter. Its great to be proud of your kids.

I can't agree more with what you wrote. I can recomend you a nice book called Tuesdays with Morrie. It a true story, very touching and very thought provoking (at least for me). There are not a lot of books that try to talk about the meaning of life which are so readable and enjoyable.

Sympathies, because I've been there.

Not long a go, someone sent me an e mail about a guy who was sat on a bed with a new
nightdress in a packet. His wife had just died and had been saving it for a "special occasion", one that was never to materialise. The mail went on to say that everyday is a special occasion and that we shouldn't save our favourite crystal in cabinets or our new clothes in closets or keep our best china locked up for days that may never happen, but get the benefit of them all right here and now.

Life is here every day and not just about isolated moments. Sure, they'll come and be remembered but in later life we remember even the bad times with some fondness. All part of the big game of life.
