Busking equipment

Hi everybody
I'm thinking of starting busking with some classical and flamenco material and i need to get some equiptment, most importantly, an amp. Anyone have any advice about good busking amps for these kind of acoustics? Most of the busking amps I have seen seem marketed towards electric so i'm a little afraid the sounds will be dodge.

Also my guitar doesn't have any inbuilt pickup or mic, usually I use a shertler basik set tranducer which is handy for most music but slightly fiddly if I want to be using it a lot. Anyone think having a built in pickup is a good idea and if so what pickup and where can you get this done?

Cheers
Art

hi ArtZumer
aer compact 60...great projection...worth the $$ which you should make back in a short time..
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/aer-compact-mobile-cpm-akku-acoustic-guitar-combo-amp

or if you have a tighter budget
http://www.crateamps.com/products/pindex.php?prodID=26

for contact mic these work well...you can use the search at foro for reviews
http://www.bartlettmics.com/guitarmicB.html
or a b=band or l r baggs pickup...[ personally dont own a guitar with a pickup ]

either that or some sort of 'converter' and a powered speaker...

hope that helps

Man I dig any AER equiptment - it's always such good sound quality and everything. however i don't have that kind of money at the moment - $500 or less - what's the crate like?

The crates sound good... Clean sound and good projection...battery lasts a lot longer than the aer. You just miss out on the headroom the aer offers, they are in a class of their own for battery powered amps. I have owned both products so either I would recommend ....

Thanks Al Val.

Yep, I'm the Brisbanite!
I've looked up all the city council legeslation around it and it seems to me that your allowed to busk outside of the main malls and plaza's without a license. It also follows that you would not have to follow the rules set out by the license (including their no-amplification rule).
I see guitarists busking opposite the Valley mall with amplification all the time so hopefully it'll be ok.

The rules are pretty crazy in Brisbane. I mean, you can busk with a sax and be heard 100m away, yet they get all funny about guitars. At one point my father and I had a busking license. We used to hide a small amp in a bag and put bug pickups on the back of our guitars. We would then run the wires down the inside of our jeans and into the bag It added just enough volume without being obvious. The inspectors would walk right by. We made decent money back then.

Wow, that's commitment!!! Where were you busking?
In any case I'm also going to be busking with a Hang which gets decent volume without amplification anyway.
