Its because Flamenco didn't start as a stage show. In a (non theatre) flamenco situation people in a busy room will get up and sing or dance in the centre and leave the circle as they finish. That's why a singer gets up and walks away from the mic on the last notes or the dancer walks off stage.

Watch José Mercé near the end of one of his Fandangos. As Pimientito says, it is an expressive departure from the 'circle' of attention. At that point another singer might enter for their turn.

Het David,

Have you seen the video where Tomatito and Cameron suddenly get up and run off stage? It is posted here on the foro somewhere and i can't find it on youtube. Perhaps someone else can find it?

Shows the calibre of the artist singing and playing the guitar at the same time along with Tomatito. Ron had one of him playing guitar with Moraoito as a teenager some months ago. Did n't realise he did it at he height of his career as well.
