Technique training

I'm a beginner. For technique, I warm up with the escala cromatica, then i do arpeggio i/m/i/m/a, 4 and 5 finger tremolo, some alzapua, rasgueos, and ligado.

I want to be sure I am doing the correct exercises that will help me advance as quickly as possible. What some of you guys would recommend for improving technique?

Thanks.

I've found what works for me is to focus on the techniques that give you difficulty and not fall into the trap of repeating over and over the exercises that are easy. Try a few of the standard things like you are doing and then isolate which exercises give you the most difficulty.

Start with pulgar and leave tremolo for later...

None of the technique practice really matters unless you are focusing on Compas. And I don't mean counting beats or playing rhythm guitar, I mean ALL your techniques need to be expressing clear and even rhythms in some form.

RE: Technique training (in reply to Ricardo

I practice technique by playing in different forms, I dont really do it separately for one technique anymore, i found this to work better for me, because then you start applying the technique right away while you practice together with others.

Before I started this type of thing i would mess up compas alot because changing between techniques was a problem for me.

From a classical background this wouldnt matter as much as in flamenco, where compas is king, I wonder why flamenco has to be so hard

This was extremely helpful. Thank you. My teacher is taking a break and here in Rio de Janeiro there isn't a huge flamenco community, but I'm going to try to work with videos in the mean time. By the way, do you have any of your own videos posted online?

You mean you don't just keep playing the entire falseta over and over with mistakes and wait for it to get better after 3000 times?

Look, with my method you should just practice 8 minutes a day, 1 falseta a day. In 5 days you will have an entire piece. Imagine all the free time you will to surf the net, go to the store, maybe go to the POST OFFICE, buy some strings, go to home depot to get glue for a busted headstock, etc etc....

Good point Ricardo. I think this method holds some merit.
