Help Finding Dancers to Accompany

After reading Haydns post on starting to accompany dancers I realised after twenty odd [some say very odd ] years,on and off, practising flamenco guitar its about time I did the same . I live in Hertfordshire and North/Central London is twenty minutes away and I wondered if any foro members here in the south east know of any dance classes that might appriciate some live accompaniment.

I,m sure I could learn alot from doing this, take me away from my solo pieces.

thanks for any help ---- Craig

hey craig,
I live in east london and have been playing for dancers for nearly 2 years.

I was in a position similar to you and I decided to just google "flamenco dance classes in london" or something like that.

I then e-mailed the dance teachers/schools directly offering my services.

I think I got 3/4 replies out of 10.

I sat in on a couple and settled for the one who didnt have a guitarist already.

I have since played several shows with these dancers and have some proper paid gigs coming up with the teacher in November!!

Its also lead to me being in mild demand from a couple of other teachers/students wanting me to play at their classes...(and im not even that good.....shhh!)
I urge you to do it...its the best guitar based move I ever made by the way...so far.

good luck
