First female guitar recording?

I just read this pretty interesting interview:

http://deflamenco.com/revista/paginai.jsp?codigo=2862

I've never heard of her before, has anyone seen her play/heard the record? Every now and then someone posts a YouTube video of a female guitarist, all the foroheads drool a bit, and we move on, but this is definitely the first one I've seen record an album.

Interesting sitting posture considering what she is wearing

I'm not complaing now, I just couldn't help noticing.

Uh oh! she says her dad is called "El Rubio"... Jason?

Her guitar sounds pleasant.

She is very talented. As everyone with whom she works...wow! great creativity going on there.

The rondena is hot...i'm gonna suggest her to rename it "basic instinct"

Yeah, I noticed too, it's hard to miss, probably a marketing scheme to sell first row tickets.

Definitely not the first female to record flamenco. Sarita made several lp's in the 50's and 60's and was in my opinion a much better player.

Funny.. her accompaniment style reminds me of Jason actually. She's great.
Nice lighting as well

John (Shelton),

It looks like she is playing one of your guitars. The head stock and body look like yours, but can't tell for sure.

yeah i guess she had many friends...

i know Paco is better than Tomate but Tomate is better than Nunez. Moraito is a good as Chicuelo but better than Diego. Sabicas was better than N. Ricardo but can't beat N. Miguel....etc etc.

These statements are soo interesting

Bettina is from Norway and was one of the star students of Manolo Sanlucar, she sang in Norweigan in class and accompanied herself in Rondenas tuning. She moved us all, especially Manolo. There is another female guitar phenom named Rubina from the course also, she is half Spanish and half Swiss, she was in Utrera, but is now in Sevilla, she writes music that sounds very modern, like Vicente Amigo or Chicuelo. And... then there is Inma (Inmacualada) she won third in the Young Accompanists competition in Cordoba this year. Another of Manolo's students won the competition, Alfonso Linares of Cordoba. Both of these students studied from a young age at the Conservatorio Superior "Rafael Orozco" in Cordoba.

Ole flamenca!
Corey

I think Ive already seen her live 2-3 years ago when she played very little for Carlos Lerida. I didn´t like it. But that was due to Lerida. Hmm.. I think I already wrote that in past, .. for me flamenco guitar is a very masculine thing. Women dont fit to that,..so I can´t enjoy it. .. But the sitting position was very nice indeed!

It does look like one of ours. If so she must have bought it from someone else since I would have remembered selling it to her.

I met Caroline Planté after her performance with a flamenco group in the Montreal (Canada) area a few years ago, and she was very shy about all the attention. She did agree there were few, if any , women playing flamenco guitar.
She doesn't claim to be a virtuoso, but certainly has a nice earthy sound.
Here is a recent interview: (in Spanish)
