Rob MacKillop here, former contributor and lurker to this forum. I dabbled in flamenco guitar, but settled on vihuela - the 16th-century Spanish guitar in lute tuning. Getting an oud soon, and hoping to combine oud and flamenco with Jim and Ron (how's it going, lads?). Looking forward to seeing some of you in Dundee for the Nunez gig, etc.
Hi Rob, How's life in Auld Reekie? I didn't think this Nuñez thing was still going ahead, since I'd heard nothing more about it other than some rumours I heard last year. Any more info?
It's definitely on. Nunez will play a solo concert, but someone else is doing the teaching. Might be John Filmore, but don't quote me on that. I spoke to Gordon Milne of the Dundee Guitar Festival just last week, and he said it is all going ahead. In fact more flamenco participants have joined up than any other style. So far (well, last week): eight flamenco students, six classical students and one 'modern' style (i.e. rock guitar). Three different festivals in one. Should be interesting. In fact, Gordon said he will be contacting you soon, Ron.
