Anyway, i don't think that's really your opinion about Arab singers you probably just said that while you were angry.
Nope, I actually meant it! I hate them all. every single one of them who are alive today. I hated them ever since I was a kid, I always told my parents to change the channel or shut the radio off because I hated them so much that they drove me crazy!! that was all before I discovered flamenco. I never heard a good "arabic" song in my life.
I only loved the traditional arabic music with the Oud ( love this instrument), which is something you would not see on TV or hear on radio. I still would like to learn the Oud someday, its an amazing instrument.
by the way, I know how to control myself, and I have had people tell me in my face that they dont like flamenco, and here is what I say " ok, fine, I wont talk about flamenco"

Ok, fine, i won't talk about Arabic songs
but seriously man it sounds weird to me that you've NEVER heard a good Arabic song in your life.
Anyway, i don't really listen to Arabic songs that much anymore (actually, i haven't heard one in months) but i know that there are some great ones out there.

How about the dead ones?
Om Kalthoum, Abdelwahab, Abdelhalim, Mohamed Fawzi...
Not even one song from one of these people?!

Maybe Arabic classical music takes some getting used to but I think there have been some great Arabic "pop" songs. I always liked Khaled as a singer. This is one of my favorite Arabic rumbas. (even if the lyric is cheesy) Anyway, its pointless to talk about good lyrics in popular music. The gypsy kings lyrics are pure nonsense, "the funk soul brother" must rank as the worst lyric in history after "smack my bitch up" and those guys all made a fortune!!!

I use to not like cante too much when I started out with flamenco, now I LOVE it and feel it is a very, very essential and crucial part of flamenco.....I even get bored now listening to a whole guitar album cause I start missing the singing :) Lately even other forms of cante start to grow on me and I actually like a lot of Arabic/Hebrew singing.

sorry for going offtopic, let gets back
The most perfect flamenco I have heard from guitarist of the 10-20 YEARS OLD CATEGORY is this 15 yr old kid: (yes he does make mistakes, but he is playing Vicente Amigos Solea VERY WELL )
