Too old, even for me and unlike the later Leica Ms - this is not considered a particularly decent camera system - soft, uncoated lenses producing lots of flare apparently. One for the serious collectiors, it seems

One of my best buddies, and something of a mentor in photography, used the pre-M Leica IIIG in the late '60s--early '70s. It turned out some nice images. That is, it and my friend together did. The IIIG and its screw mount lenses were a lot cheaper than an M3. Not sure that's still true.

Our mentor, 12 years older than we were, had a 4"x5" twin lens reflex Graflex he inherited from his father. It looked laughably antique to us, with its beat up leather covering, but he had some very nice prints from it and his equally gigantic old enlarger. At age 14 he had accompanied his professor Dad on an expedition to the Amazon, and had some photos published in National Geographic which he took with that old clunker.

By the time we knew our mentor he was pretty prosperous and had acquired more modern gear.
