First date with the bailora

HI.
I have now met with the dancer for the first time.
She was very easy going and nice. We seem to get along very well.
She said -Do you want to do a solea? and i said hell yeah!! and then we went to work.
She showed me some stepps she liked to have in a llamada and we worked on that.
We only met for an hour this time so that was all we did.
I found it easy to talk about the music with her, even though she doesn´t know guitar playing
she was a big help in "musical direction" and she said she liked my playing.
Im a hugh cante fanatic so it´s fun to get to play with the syncopations and stuff the you get with a dancer, It´s like another leve added to the whole thing.
Next we´ll met is the 10th of april. My birthday.

Henrik

Happy Birthday in advance! I'd be in the Army at the moment, so here's my birthday wish to you. Keep playing, you're getting so much better and I Hope you'll never stop!

LOL That sounds abit erm.. Sheesh what was I thinking..?

Anyway good for you! You've found someone to practise with and you'll just get better as time goes by, unlike me..

Enjoy yourself!
Cheers,
Cheston

If you practice you´ll get better. If you don´t have people to play with go for technique and knowledge of palos (styles) also do a LOT of listening.

When you finaly met somone do play with Guitarist or dancer it will be a very good thing to at least know the basic chords to Peteneras for example and also to know a few recorded ones.

I can recomend anything by Camarón with Paco de lucia on guitar from 1960-the 1970´s. The recordings with Tomatio and camarón are also a "must".
Try to find some older stuff too like Antonio Mairena.. or Perla de cadiz. Manuel Torre if you can stand the quality of the sound.

Hi Henrik,
Glad that you like the experience of playing with a dancer ; that must be very rewarding, after so many years of playing alone to see your music taking form in the movements of a dancer.
Well, it seems a new door has openned for you...new horizon...
All the best
Antonio

Hi dancedudes

I just saw on elflamencovive.com that they are selling some of their dance videos for 2,5 Euros a piece until they are sold out.

Some of them are good and give a lot of ideas on how the dance works.
