Palos that Paco de Lucía has not re...

This Almoraima review

makes the bold claim that

"Paco de Lucía is perhaps the only guitarist that has played in concert all the styles that exist in flamenco."

This sounds completely false to me. So here's a challenge to foro members: let's figure out which styles Paco hasn't recorded in. I'll start!

Peteneras.

(If he has recorded one, though, let me know.)

What else? I don't think he's recorded a martinete but to be fair I don't think that counts.

With the other thread I was looking for a Malagueña by Paco and Camaron but could not find one.
But did come accross this:

La Mujer con ser Mujer (Malaguena de Chacon) - not sure if it is much different from a straight Malaguena. On the Album Son Tus Ojos dos Estrellas.

Well, there's a malagueña on the very same album as the petenera. Like most of Camarón's early albums with Paco, it's just called "El Camarón de la Isla con la colaboración especial de Paco de Lucía", but since there's like six of them they're usually referred to by the name of the first track. This one goes by the title "Son Tus Ojos Dos Estrellas":

Oh, good one. I haven't, either.

To bring this back on topic, I was thinking of solo pieces when I posted this, not styles he's done with cante. Whether or not you can play a solo petenera is another discussion entirely, I don't think I've heard any except Carlos Montoya's, but if anyone can figure it out, it's Paco!

I don't think Paco has done a Serranas.

It is not a very popular palo.

How about Romeras?

In any case, there are so many palos that are kind of old fashioned now that it should not be hard to come up with a few. Verdiales is another that I don't remember him doing, but hey I could be wrong.

Paco Peña has been doing it for a long time, I think his is based on Sabicas.
(And Pepe Romero recorded one...)

Oh yeah, I have a couple. One on the Misa Flamenca (which doesn't really count), and one on Azahara. Quite nice.

I've always wanted someone to record a petenera and call it Macbeth, just to piss off the gods.

he played petenera solo piece in his disc recital de guitarra flamenca with title 'temas del pueblo"

He first make intro and then start petenera and it finish more fast like bulerias in mode major

He also recorded sortilegio.... i dont know who composed it but surely is one petenera...

i am not so expert to tell what is pure flamenco... I just have read some things about flamenco. Also sevillanas is not pure flamenco. nowadays all these palos are incorporated in flamenco because if you would see the structure you will see that they are related.

I thought it was commonly accepted that Sevillana is pure folklore and has very but very little to do with flamenco. At least i hear this from spaniard people who teach flamenco to guiris like us

I believe scientists measure the purocity of a form in purons. For example, seguirilla has 200 purons, zambra has -50 purons, rumba has -100 purons, and Benise has negative infinity purons.

News to me, if true. I'm only aware of one petenera by Sabas, and that’s on the album with Dolores Vargas, mixed up with a guajira.

Paco has recorded it at least five times:

La Gitarra Flamenca [sic]
Azahara
Misa Flamenca (CD & DVD)
A Flamenco Guitar Recital
A Compàs!

IIRC, at least three of these versions are quite distinct.
