Fret buzz- can i fix it myself

it looks like my guitar has a nasty fret buzz on the first fret, especially on the thinner strings ( G, B, and E ).

Do you think it's possibly to fix it myself, maybe by filing the first fret just a bit, or should I have someone else to fix it?

It's coming to a point where I cant play without cellija; the buzz is just so bad!

Hey Neotriz,

I have been watching this thread waiting for a response because I would like to know what to do in this type of situation as well!

Hopefully, one of the luthiers here can give you a step by step guide and you can make a decision if you feel comfortable. I am a big believer in do it yourself when it comes to guitar, but it helps when you are not working on your number one guitar!

If it is the open strings buzzing on the first fret, which I think is what you are describing, then the nut slots are too low rather than the fret being too high.
Solutions are one of the following
Shim the nut to make it higher
Fill the slots and recut (CA and bicarb soda or bone dust)
Fit a new nut

To do this properly requires nut files
or take it to a luthier
