Back to Basics

Well guys I decided to go back to the begining and start again, because I did learn a lot of stuff, palos, tunes , falsettas and all as you do. But I sound about as flamenco as a didgeridoo..
And so many basic right hand manouvers are just not there, also I usually out of compass by about beat 4, etc etc,,,,
Maybe I can salvage some stuff, Anyway I got my hands on the Mehdi Mohagheghi 3 DVD set of Solea, Solea por Bulerias and Bulerias, and I'm going to use these as a guide to keep me straight.

But I'm back to Solea first with the metronome turned way down (1 beat per day should do it !) and I'm gonna try to make something that sounds like it came from Andalucia. I think that it's gonna be tough doing it again and being in the Kindergarten class, but I'm determined to stick with it.
Actually I quite like the sound of the guy he has some nice stuff, but also I am forcing myself not to jump ahead until it's time ( I know me toooo well)
But I will keep checking in and if I get something sounding good I will post it , so the better players can rip it to shreds....!
Basically a lot of the stuff I have is reasonable I just need a new Flamenco right hand ...can't find it on E-Bay.

I know how you feel Rico. But don't be discouraged, half the battle is won in the mind. Just believe that someday through dedication, persistence and patience you'll get there. Obey the Law of Harvest and the Law of Time. You need persistence and time to reap success. As they say, Rome wasn't built overnight.

I have a nice thought that you could stick to, i always tell myself.

The result and success will ALWAYS outweigh the process and practice involved. Once you've arrived you'll never think of all the hours you've gone through practicing. It's gonna feel so insignificant (in a good way of course), you'd be happy to go through that painful, painstaking process again.

Good luck and best of wishes to you

Back to basics is always a good direction to go.
A challenge considering patience, but certainly worth it.
Could be lesser joy at first, but just the more in the future.

Wish you lots of fun,

Ruphus

anyone should be doing that anyway...i am always back checking and double checking the simplest things that make the biggest difference in feel, and i never run out of things i wanna do better...sometimes i sit for hours just practicing the most basic buleria rhythm to work on sonikete..

the other day i went back found the most basic solea por bulerias with a nice swing and analyzed it for hours just the basic cierre...to try and get the genuine swinging feel...a split of a second in a note can make all the difference in the world

many times u rush through things when u in a hurry to just play and dont give them the attention and respect they
deserve only to wonder why am i not having the right feel here ? so u go back to the simplest smallest things that makes the biggest difference..

i think visiting back every now and then is good for anyone

Back to basics. I always love reading that phrase.

If you want to build it high, you need a solid foundation.

Attitude is so extremely important. And you have the right attitude.

So, no worries. Keep working. It will absolutely pay off.
Garanteed.
