Just have a look here in this foro. Most folks have several guitars.Ok you can't blame them for this. They have the cash and go for it. They buy for PLEASURE not because they need a new one.
The same for tv. .................

I belive that several guitars IS NOT THE SAME as several tv or other stupid things of "capitalistic modernity"

ciao

... in my opinion we, the public, in each of our respective countries, are just as responsible as the financial and political institutions for this mess. For decades we have demanded ever greater social services, welfare, and cradle-to-grave security. Now we have to pay the piper ...

How nicely extracted around vertical cash flow, irrational upcharges and profits such perspective is!
Zealously ignored, exploding wealth of minority, with under 5% of population occupying around 60% of global property, consequently ought to be rooted exterristically.
Not to think of what corruption eats of NGPs.
But who cares, if not economical basics being pushed out of the galaxy at all. |O/

hey Giambattista,
maybe not, but for me it's the same logic going on.

you know.........I belive it is not the same logic becuase a guitar is some kind of "artistic tool".....and the ART , never is the goal of an economic system as the one we have... dont you think so?.

Yes i agree with you.

But what do you think for example of the photo or the video (cinema)? A camcorder or a camera are also artistic tool. Someone passionate by these art form will "always" be frustrated by the purchase he just made. Because the next generation are going to be better, most powerful, with more options...

Frustation is the key to keep high level of consumption ( well maybe not )

When 10% of the people own 60% of the wealth (Germany)
or 2% own 90% of the wealth (poorer countries)
then it is clear where the wealth has gone into. Hint: its unlikely the social welfare that made those 10% wealthy. Likewise it seems obscure to claim welfare cuts to finance the crisis.

Hi Ruphus,

Thanks for the reply,

I agree with your points. I won't attempt to continue writing and expanding on these ideas as this type of conversation is preferable to have in person.

Expanding intellectual capacity leading to reason has always been a desire of man. We are certainly living in an interesting time.

Hi KMM117,

You are welcome! :O)

To me interesting in a bizzare and higly saddening way.
Sure, of a generation that has seen changes like none before, also interesting in the original sense of the word, yet too much overshadowed of irrationality in the same time.

All that tribulation of 3 billion years of evolution, likely spectacular and special even before the endlessness of the universe(s), only to be destroyed by the utmost of ordinariness a mental capacity like ours ever could yield.

8 million years of human evolution, exclusively enabled through solidarity and empathy, undeservingly ended through a glimps of ~ 5000 years of rip-off civilisation.

Short-sightedness, systematic desinformation and cheat, economical inefficiency, ethical and logical paradox ending in inhumanity and taking with itself the whole of fellow species into distinction.

Something one could possibly think of as acceptable if only necessary in any way.

But the background of the worldly suffering is being so banal that it drives you crazy once you have the slightest overview on basic matters.

For instance:
Dou you know what stands behind the Japanese wale killing?
Behind an entirely senseless harvesting, as wale meat tasting awfully; so much that it has to be offered extremely cheaply, with yet tenth of thousands of tons in Japan remaining unsold?

Because of the pushings of Japanese officials employed in Japan´s so called "Wale research" department.
All that slaughter of endangered specieses, just because of a budget of 30 mio $ value that those clerks aim to preserve allocated to their department and with that to their lousy job positions.

Let alone the trivial amounts people take in when they shoot a tiger, snow leaopard, rhino etc. ( Like e.g. ~ 30 dollars and less.)

Or the relatively neglectable additional profits the very and super rich individuals yet pursue, eventhough already stuffed with astronomically sized properties and despite being well informed what their unbound greed does to fellow life on earth; nowadays radical increasingly and irreversibly to boot.

Next, that incredibly detouched and banal background of ignorance and indifference.
Simply for psychic fragility. (!!)

Fatality remaining intentionally ignored, just because weak personality feeling that it couldn´t stand bad news, giving up actually threatened and hazarded entity, merely for supposed harbouring of its state of mind!

Or the vast of people who found their income in destructive work positions like in weapon industry, banks upper departments, established politics etc.pp.

Hardly ever have I met someone who was of the basic self-respect to allow himself looking at the actual facts behind his unjustly conducting profession, admitting to me that he was an economical opportunist.

The vast instead ordinarily tend to be contents opportunists too on top of their economical impetus.
Too weak and primitive to stand before themselves, commonly bending and distorting howsoever known and obvious circumstances until they could justify their daily doings as inherently legitimate.

There is a great and wordly reality going down for fathomlessly trivial background.
Never has there been such a discrepancy between potential of awareness and practical state of comprehension.

And I doubt such contradiction and desperate situation to be found anywhere else soon, even with the generally giant eventuality out there in space.
We are the idiot planet, needlessly and to no believe.

And that is not so much interesting than it is fatal, decoupled, irrational and unworthy of menkind centuries after Middle Age.
( With the people back than in relation to their informative means having been much more aware than us, anyway.)

I'd like to jump in and say that I'm really happy to be a member of a forum that contains so many intelligent people. I'm amazed that flamenco aficionados are so varied! A former diplomat?! Amazing...
