For the Salvador Castillo owners on ...

I was at a private juerga a few weeks ago in Titusville FL, where Juan Serrano and Manolo Leiva got together (it was decades since they last performed together).

Sr. Serrano chose to play my guitar during most of the juerga -- Salvador Castillo blanca #187. He was quite complimentary about it. As you might imagine, there were quite a few guitarists there and quite a few guitars.

Here he is playing a bulerias on it:

"Payo" Humberto recorded almost all of the juerga (it was in 2 locations over several days) and put it on youtube. You can find more there. Serrano is playing my Castillo in the interior scenes (in a condo on Port Canaveral beach), and Dick Brune's very nice personal blanca (he made it) in the outdoor scenes filmed in the Jetty Park pavillion in the evening.

It was thrilling to see those 2 guys together. And nerve-wracking to be asked to play in front of them. I had played once for Manolo some 30-plus years ago when I was a student of his accompanist (Carlos Ramos) at El Bodegon. Somehow, it was more nerve wracking this time. I guess I was too young to be nervous back then.

They had some interesting stories to tell. One about a blind flamenco dancer . . .

Anyway, the Castillo owners among you might be interested in listening to the interior scenes filmed by Humberto on youtube.

Tony Arnold
