how to write solea with guitar pro5?

Hi guys,
Im learning to write with guitar pro5, and would need help with one problem.
Im writing solea and would like to have four bars per line in the page setup.
The program lets me have only three bars and then gives me new line. Its irritating because it makes reading the phrases much harder.
So how is it possible to get logical looking lines of solea with guitar pro?

Well, first off- change the instrument to nylon string guitar ;)

Its a big change, but have you considered writing it in 6/8 ?

Im not familiar with that particular program, but there may be
some settings adjustment for the minimum space between notes.
Adjusting that may allow you to add a 4th bar on each line.

uups, i didnt even notice that

Im really just starting with the program so theres lots of things I havent tried yet. I'll try the 6/8 tomorrow and see how it goes.
I got inspired to start writing notes from pepe habichuelas enquentro book and there the solea is written 3/4. Four bars per line, easy to read.
I havent found anything that would let me change the space between the notes, I keep looking.

I use guitar pro loads! and....I'm not sure I've ever found anything that can do what you ask. I have noticed this myself.

I have transcribed lines of alegrias compas and GP5 puts them in 3 bars per line and then further down theres six bars in a line...... I've transribed caracoles compas and its all in lines of 4. Im not sure what determines how this happens.(note duration within each bar, number of notes) or whether its really a problem once you get used to it. I understand its nice to have it laid out in compas of 12 or whatever but is it essential?? I dont know.

if you cant find a solution dont be put off by it. GP5 is an excellent tool and really helps learning new pieces and has helped me understand a lot more about how music, rhythm, silence works.

ill have a peek in prefs etc and see if find anything.

"Bar" menu >> Break Line >> Force Break Line

you'll have to do this on every 4th bar tho
oh and i forgot that you got a mac - not sure if it is the same there

I forgot to mention: Writing Solea in 6/8 makes it really handy to group the notes in compas. The first measure make 2 groups of 3 beats. The second measure make 3 groups of 2 beats.

I'm not familiar with Guitar Pro5, but I have used Finale in the past, and I think that no matter what you do there is an inherent problem with any music notation software. With Finale – and maybe even with Guitar 5 – you can preset the number of measures per line, so you might be able to do that. The problem is that even if you do that and set the line for four measures, it depends on the music – if there are a lot of notes in any given measure, the program will just cram them into the measure in order to stay at four bars per line. So you get a cumbersome looking measure that's difficult to read. If you want to space that measure out to make it reasonably readable, you usually have to take one bar off the line, leaving you with three anyway.

thanks for the replies guys,
I tried the force brake line, but it didnt put the fourth bar on the first line. It was still in the second, but it became line long. I think it will work if the bars a very short and there would be room for fifth one.
But...
I found a solution for it. I now have four bars nicely in the line I changed the width of the page to 230 and everything fits. A3 size is too big but adding just a little more to A4 is enough.

Yep, this is a problem if theres very fast sections.
Maybe the four bars per line eventually is not that important, but for now its easier to my eyes and understanding, Im just starting with reading and writing the notes.
oh, and I changed now to nylonstrings

4 bars per line is not such a big deal. I is nice and "cuadrao" looking you are right. Half compases can occur in Solea too, so watch out for those.

If you want a guarantee, then right out all your falsetas in 12/4 in stead of 3/4. Another option is two bars of 6/4. In both cases the compas phrasing will read clear on the page, but most "readers" of flamenco dont need to see it all perfect and cuadrao. Remember to bookend falsetas with double bar lines.

say i want to write in 3/4 with 4 bars per line then i use the keep together function to glue the first three measures together (looks like a lock) and then the force break on the fourth measure of the line (looks like a P). that way things wont move even if i would change page size etc.

In GP6, Pick System Layout under Bar Menu Heading, Choose 4 Bars per system and also check the default value check box. I think it is the same in GP5. You will always get 4 bars per measure regardless of time sig...

I see again new design elements in Gp6. But i guess the way you type in the notes still remains the same? What the program is really lacking is a new functionality that makes it easier to type in the notes. For example I would like to copy SINGLE NOTES with their time value to another place and would like to be able to choose whether to keep the time value or overwrite it.
Regarding the main functions, Gp6 is basically Gp2 with a new design.
