Ummm....Basically, just a coal hammer and a bread-knife, unless you're planning making something fancy.
When I was in my early 20's, I was playing a couple of things at a New Year party and a particularly attractive blonde lady (with a really neat bod ) started chatting to me. She was in her mid-30's and said that her ex-husband had built her daughter a guitar, but they weren't quite sure how to tune it...so could I help?
She said he was a useless husband, but was pretty good at woodwork.
Anyway, she gave me a very passionate and sexy kiss at the stroke of midnight...so I said............ "Um..OK....Yeah..sure!".
So she gave me her address and I went along the next day (with hope in my heart )...
Jeezus!
This thing was built to Military specifications and weighed about 25 kilos!...
Not only that...but the fingerboard went the wrong way round!!
(ie the narrow frets were at the nut end and got wider towards the 12th fret!!)
Also the strings weren't "normal", but.. like...had 2 wound E strings and the rest just plain B strings..wtf??
I didn't know what to say....
Then the front door opened and her current (big) boyfriend came in
He glowered at me suspiciously and she explained that it was OK.. I had just come to help tune the guitar....
I can't remember exactly how it finished...but I kinda mumbled something about it needing a set of proper strings and left F...ing pronto...
