Florian;

The Oscar Herrero video is very good. Have you tried the Manuel Granados Book 4 Accompaniment to the cante? It includes Sloea, Siguiriya, Malagueña, Fandcango, Granaina, and Tientos. Each palo is done in three ways:

1. Cante with accompaniment
2. Solo accompaniment
3. Cante solo

It is not bad except it is not too long!

Florian. Good to hear there is a little of the dancer in you(-:

People like Tom W will tell you that dance in all its forms, particularly ballroom gets and stays in your blood for life, (much, I expect like guitar playing(-:). I bet, even now that Tom, although he is a profesional musician, can't resist wanting to move to the tango rythmn (-:

Although I've been around flamenco a long time as an afficionado, flamenco dance is a pure hobby and classes are hard to come by in my area. I'm too old to want to travel great distances to workshops and I just go to local classes wherever I can get them. I also enjoy joining any new class as a beginner as there is always something to learn although I'm usually the only male there.

My favourite dancers tend to be of the old school: Farruco, Antoio Ximinez, Manolo Vargas and Gades in the males, and Milagros Mengibar, La Tona, Angelita Vargas etc in the ladies. I have seen quite a lot of live flamenco dance in Spain and was lucky enough to follow the career of Ana Cali, a young Gypsy dancer from the Malaga area from when she was just 12. She now teaches in Granada and is married to the same Emilio Maya, the guitarist she started out with and who I have also seen play many times live. They are both personal friends of Kate, who also lives in Granada and posts on this forum and is currently promoting the young Gypsy group "Taller de Compas" who will be touring in USA in September.

Keep up the good playing; there's no sound in the world to compare to a flamenco guitar.

Saludos..Jim.
