Terremoto/La Nina Tangos- Same Melod...
I pulled out Terremoto Hijo’s Cosa Natural for an in memoriam listen this morning and noticed that the first letra of his tangos* follows the same melody as La Nina’s “En Barcelona a Valencia….”
*Sigue cantando ti historia Sigue cantando, Gitano Que el mundo no es una noria Nos cria a tos como hermanos
Same melody but different letras except for the “Al gurugu, etc” tag at the end. I identify that melody with La Nina, and think of that as “her” tangos (in my own limited and still developing understanding of how all this stuff works).
So, couple questions. Is that melody actually hers or is it just some trad/generic tangos melody? And if it is hers, would you call what Terremoto is singing “Tangos de La Nina de los Peines” even though he’s not singing her letras? What’s the primary determining factor that makes something “Solea de Whoever”? Is it strictly the melody, with the lyrics up for grabs?
Also, does the “Al gurugu” thing “count” as a line of its own or is it just something that’s tagged on to the end of the last line? It kind of seems like a nonsense filler sort thing like “le le le”, but it also seems to perform a melodic function by dropping the scale down to resolve the phrase.
Sorry if this these are all really dumb questions with overly-obvious answers....

I need to double check, but tangos de piyayo comes to mind....meaning that would be mr piyayo's song. I will double check when i get a chance but maybe someone else has checked it out already.

I checked through all the Tangos de Piyayo I had and it was all that kind of lilting, folksy stuff that's got a major key garrotin/guarijas vibe. The La Nina one I'm referring to is your standard driving por medio deal. I'll try to upload the tracks later...

Nope, that's not a tangos de piyayo. Those are like a variant of tangos de malaga, tono flips between major and minor, sometimes sung fast to end a farruca.
This one was done by Camaron and later Arcangel (sorry I don't have the audio):
Que ganas tengo que llega el mes de los caracoles, el mes de los caracoles Pa comprarle a mi gitana, una bota de botones, una bota de botones que quiera que yo te quiera, que quiera que yo te quiera y haras lo que yo te digo ay si quieres veni a mi ver ay lere, le lere lere le lere cuando este en tu solea y refresque tu memoria pensando en mi lloraras calabaci calabaso que esta gitana que la mando yo
