RE: how much to ask for a gig? (in reply to Ron.M)
Well that would be ironic-the guy's been studying guitar his whole life, and just about "gets it" but is about to die! But I hope you were not offended Ron-my condolences to you. I've also lost a parent and it's a tough thing, and I think your also right about the business. Your basically helpless. I agree about guitar being also worth a lot of money in a situation like that, but wonder if organists get a lot of money for that gig. It's a little too creepy for me, but having been a customer myself, I know that the right player in that situation can have a great, even healing effect on people. Importatant and noble gig I think.

I heard they sometimes play a Seguiria at funerals in Andalucia Dave
My Mum came from Andalucia, Algeciras to be precise. She loved flamenco and at her funeral we played a recording of Cameron singing Siguiriyas as the coffin was carried in. Dunno what some of the locals in Stockton-on-Tees, where she lived the last few years of her life, made of it . I found it very moving, and a couple of her students (she taught private Spanish lessons) said afterwards that they were very moved.
