Yesterday I went to a show in Huelva. A homenage to Niño Miguel. It was in order to collect enough money to be able to pay a residence for Miguel, where he can be taken care of. He´s doing better now, but needs care. Tons of flamenco superstars were there. All playing, singing or dancing a couple of numbers for free in order to gather money for Miguel: Beisdes Miguel, who played a Taranta alone, there was, in Crononological order: José Luis Rodriguez with group, Pepe de Lucía, Miguel Angel cortez, El Pele, Juan Carlos Romero, José Mercé, Estrella Morente, Eva la Yerbabuena, Manolo Sanlucar with group, Carmen Linares, Pepe Habichuela playing solo, Tomatito with group plus some percussion and second guitarists where I cant remember the names. In total, a supershow. I dont think I´ve ever seen so many top names in a one evening festival. My favorites: Estrella Morentes voice. seing Mercé totally down to earth por solea and alegrias. He has such a good voice, Eva la Yerbabuena is a fantastic dancer, And finally Tomatitto who was completely insane dynamic, What a pulsation and what an energy. He ended with "la Ardilla" played at around 200 bpm. Everybody yelling. The not so good thing. The place, A big indoor sports arena with lousy acoustics and horrible seats. It was full, so I hope there´ll be enough money to help Niño Miguel.
Good to see the flamencos relaxed and being solidary.
