I use Cinemaforge 2.0 (free) if I already have the file on the computer.
I use Download Helper (free add on for Firefox) if I want to save a youtube video.

I recommend converting vids to Quicktime (mp4). You can slow it down
for easier transcribing. There's a pitch adjuster too if you want to learn
it using a different capo placement than the original.

RE: transcribing FLV format Vids (in reply to minordjango

Hi,

I've never tried transcribing from FLVs but have had some success learning pieces (eg the Terry Fleming tientos) from YouTube videos, which are FLVs. I download them so I can play them even when my Internet connection is down (BTW with the free Perian plugin, I can play and slow down FLVs with Quicktime on my Mac, no need to convert to MP4).

My problem is when the FLV's audio and video are out of sync. Has anyone found a solution to this?

Theres a freeware plugin for firefox. It can download and convert the youtube-files to windows media format. You can also slowdown the videos with the windows media player without changing pitch.
