gypsy style your opinion ?

having played lots og Gypsy Jazz from 吉普塞人!! i just thought in flamenco and your own mind what is Gypsy to you .

im not so into the super refined recordings, i love the iodea that trhe guitar is handed around then someone plays it like well there is no tomorrow ?

having listen to Serranito for a long time there is something i love about his how should i say insane style !! His scale runs and hard hitting approach i love and it makes me think of a virtuoso violinist ? i remember hearing him play a classical piece (El Colibri) did he burn !! pheww.

what constitutes a gypsy player? for me i think to be a Gypsy is to be king !

You need long, black curly hair, a gold tooth and carry a knife.

Serranito was born and brought up in Madrid...I don't think he's Gitano.

cheers,

Ron

haha your like that !!!

But Ron he always gives me the impression of just going straight for it !!! i guess i was asking for what your folks think are Gypsy albums and why !!.

i love hes compositions and he seems to have this manic approach not sure why I though it was overtly gypsy !

I've seen him play in a small club and talked with him a few times when I was living in Madrid.

He's a very mild-mannered guy and really gets involved in a world of his own when he plays guitar....sorta like "experimenting" rather than playing a pre-prepared set piece.

He's not a showman or anything and at times it was just like watching him play around with the guitar in his own front room.

Nice guy to talk to.

Back to your original question, however...

Hmmm..."Gypsy" style??

I think folks like Tomatito, Manuel Morao, Moraito, Diego de Amaya have got a kind of feeling and style in their playing which is a little bit different somehow...

cheers,

Ron

hey, i got a gold tooth - just gotta work on that long curly black hair... maybe like when my tooth fell out and the dentist put a gold one in, as my hair falls out i could get long black curly hair put in to replace it...

oh, and i carry a penknife most of the time, does that count?
