The Genius of El Capullo

Hi Flamenco Fans,
I don't know about you, but El Capullo (backed by my favourite guitarist Diego Amaya) ranks very highly on my list of singers who have totally grabbed my attention.
Terremoto, El Camaron..... and now El Capullo.
This little clip from a Bulerias (off tape) demonstrates the elasticity of Flamenco forms.
How Bulerias can sound so jovial and scoffing through the technically brilliant guitar stuff from PdL and Tomatito to this very profound interpretation.

He is rapidly becoming one of my favourite singers since Camaron.
And how more simpler do you need the guitar playing?

Ron

HI Ron and friends!

Just a small break from work. I am spending a few days in Jerez to visit the family.
Ron I think I can recognise the recording from the video I recorded in Onda Jerez isn´t it? Well I have to say El Capullo is very popular in Jerez. Lot´s of fans follow him to every gig. I have never heard such loud fans. El Capullo is a character, his got a big personality on stage and he is very funny. But sometimes he speaks nonsense about how bad drugs are, but you can tell he is stoned. Nevertheless he is great. He has performed in the last two years on La Fiesta de la Buleria and people love him. There is nobody like Diego Amaya to accompany cante. He is the tipical guitarist from Jerez, simple but with a great feeling.

Saludos

Melchor

Melchor,
I happy to see that you are alive and well. I sent you an email mail several weeks ago. Did you receive it?

Always good to hear from you Melchor!
Yes, that's the one off the video you kindly sent me a while back.
Capullo certainly looks a character...I'd love to see him "live"!
And Diego can say so much with so little, he's always spot on as an accompanist.
How is your playing coming along these days?
Are you finding time to practice?

cheers

Ron

Hola Phil!

No I haven´t recieve your email, probably because you sent it to my old email adress in ole. I recieved too many messages remembering how short my willy is so I decided to change to hotmail. So please send me an email to this address melchords@hotmail.com. Tell me how it is going in Moron. Do you see Estela often? Ron my playing is no getting better specially because I am working too much so I don´t find enough time to practice. But today I put the new strings I bought in Jerez and recorded myself on video. I am planing to send this video to a friend in New Zealand who loves flamenco and saw me playing when I was starting two and a half years ago. I think she will be surprised how much I learned since then.
By the way Escribano how are you man? Any plans to go soon to Jerez?

Melchor
