sweaty hands

bit of an embarrassing one this but i turn to the foro for help,

i am only a begginer at the guitar and have an alhambra, i have wanted to learn flamenco for a long time so i took it on myself to learn.

but here's the problem, i start playing and doing my tremelo exercises and pulgar exercises etc but my hands and finger tips get very sweaty very quickly and this obviously affects my playing! fingers slipping of the strings on my right hand and sliding onto the wrong frets etc with the left.

does anyone else have the very annoying perspiration if so what have people done to prevent it?

thanks again

Alex

I always try to make sure that my hands are freshly washed and dried before playing. If I still have a problem with extra sweat, then baby powder works pretty well. Just make sure to pat & rub all the extra powder off/in your hands.

(that's one simple suggestion that's always worked for me)

cheers!

the alcohol in hand sanitizers might dry your hands out a little and might help.

i think i remember my hands getting sweaty when i first started too. it might be a beginner's thing.

Depends if it's for sweaty babies or athlete's hand.

I heard a good alternative meaning for the word 'serpentine'. (Uxbridge Dictionary)

"A substance used to remove paint from snakes."

cheers,

Ron

If you're practicing at home, just play in your underwear.
Playing actually raises your heart rate and can trigger
a certain amount of sweating. Wearing less can help regulate
your temperature.

If you have truly excessive perspiration, like with damp hands all the time, you could try an over the counter antiperspirant.

I was being prescribed Dexedrine for a long time and it made me sweat like a horse. The product I used was called Drysol.

If you do use an OTC antiperspirant, you should apply it the night before. If it's your hands, make sure you won't be touching your eyes any time soon after application. Transference can interfere with your eye's lubrication...
