Media Luna look-alike headstock

This is the headstock from Manuel Fernandez, building in the second generation in Granada.

Maybe I buy a (second hand) guitar from him.
I´m wondering about the similarity from the headstock to the Conde Media Luna´s headstocks. BTW I´m not a big Conde-Fan.

What do you think about using a guitar with a resemblance to such a famous guitar? It´s a typical Granada guitar-nothing to do with Conde except the head.

I´ve heard that some players shaped their headstock to look like a Conde. Maybe that´s a little bit wimpy from me, but I don´t wan´t to that somebody thinks I´m such a fake-Conde-player...

You shouldnt worry about such things.... it looks more like a horn, like Maldonado's heads, than a Conde head anyway...

I'm with you Morao. Headstock signature is very important and unless that's been his design for years and years, it would put me right off.

Morao,

I agree with Deniz. Do not worry about such things. You shouldn't buy a guitar because of the headstock anyway. You buy a guitar because of other important things. You shouldn't care what anybody thinks about your guitar too. It's your guitar and you like it. That's what matters.

Strange as it may seem, a San Antonio builder friend of mine in the early 60's did a design of that nature for one of his flamenco guitars. It just goes to show us that there is really nothing new under the sun. And I'm sure he didn't get it from Conde:-)

Thank you guys.
Sadly another bought the guitar. The private seller told me, that he waits until my guitar was sold (I told him, that I sell my Sanchis Lopez on Saturday.) Fortunately the prospective buyer didn´t come: Yesterday the seller calles me t tell that he sells the guitar. The other guy said: I give you 400 Euro more than your other bidder. ...

The trouble is there aren't too many options. There are a few basic designs and then its just variations on those themes.

I've been using my own design for nearly 30 years. Recently a friend (Mike Holmes, a mutual friend i think?) remarked on my 'ramirez head'.
And he's right: it does look very similar.
I'm now desparately trying to think of pleasing alterations that will make it more destinctively mine, but its not easy!

Hi Tom, early 60's qualifies as years and years.
Conde might have copied him?

Yes, Mike is a good friend who interestingly, has started making guitars.
How do you know him?
I think the creative input into the headstock design speaks volumes for the potential of the maker. It should be an easily recognised with unique signiture.
Cheers
Jim.
