It was reported on the local news an hour before CNN chose to share this information. I wonder why hospital officials were so reluctant to report this? TMZ.com was contacted immediately by one of MJ's employees...how much money do you think that employee was paid for this? Poor Farrah Fawcett--outshined yet again.

Its very sad. He did have issues, no doubt, but was a huge talent.

And had, and will continue to have a huge impact on the music world.

My fiancee is having an utter caniption fit over this. She is literally drinking
herself into a blackout tonite.
She is devistated. She is young (26), and to her, MJ is her "John Lennon".
Im sad for her, and the whole situation.

Life is fragile. Live it to the fullest. It can stop at any moment.

I dont think changing your skin color is against the law.

Wether he ever acted inappropriately with children (he was aquitted) or he was a serial killer, he had a huge impact
on a generation. Jeanette (my fiancee) is part of that generation.
She worships MJ for his music. His personal life and issues are just that.
It doesnt take away the huge influence his music had.

Im not for child abuse, obviously. And im not a big fan of Micheal Jackson either.
I dont even care for the correlation with MJ to John Lennon. To me, John Lennon was more than a "Pop star". Im just saying, for some people, this is
a really huge tragedy. I think you will see just how big over the next few days.

James Brown, the king of soul, beat the living hell out of his wife. That sucks.
But i still think James Brown is one the greatest singers in history,and his music will
live forever, and i will always admire his accomplishments and contributions to the music world.

You've never had a hero, whom did something in their personal life which was unacceptable, yet you still admire them, and hold on to what they mean to you?

The saddest thing is that every website/ every myspace page messgae everyone is saying "OHHHHHHHHHH i loved him ...the world would suffer "

give me a brake !! people close to him must be rollying their eyes...if he had this much love and support the might not have leaved at home , cut off, probably depressed and beaten by himself...might have been a different story, might have been a happyer guy and lived a fuller live..might have not felled like the only people he wanted to hang out with or felled comfortable around were children...because they hadent yet learend to be judgemental and dismissive or have ulterior motives

every second song the guy wrote was about making the world a better place, about giving, about doing something for someone..if that was an act ...you dont do it all your life that consistently...he probably alsoe felled like he had to compensate for how he was been seen or treated

Me i have always liked the music and felled bad for him, i gues its not hard losing touch with reality when u stuck in your home...his insecurities made him do unatural stuff to his appearence and that just made it eazy target ...to hurt someone thast famous stories didnt even need to be true..just the roumer alone was enough to hurt him..pretty eazy target for get rich quick ambitious parents.....all u needed was aan accusation and a photo of a kid at michel jacksons house...the weirder he looked the eazyer it was

but i wouldnt dare post such a " Oh i loved you !" on my myspace or anything cause i was probably just as bad and as dissmissive as everyone else ...lets face it...it was eazy too

best move for anyones career or acceptaance is to die ...probably all the extra " Oh i loved you Miachel!!" is because everyone feels slightly just as gulty..

and yeah watch the media its about to become a cirrcus...those same that chased him to print a bad storry about him "cause it sells" will now all " Love him " all the sudden.

We are all about to get a reminder on TV of how ridicoulos the world can get sometimes and how eazely we can all change our version of the truth of how we were just to make ourselfs feel better..and everyone will say that it was "other people " that did this to him

i dont even have the strength or dare to feel sad yet....it take a while to get ride of the guilt first..poor guy had every right to be dissapointed in us..i am not religious but i hope there is a better place for his sake and the poor guy finds more acceptance dead then he was able to find alive..

guy was alive for 50 years and we made fun of him and made his life miserable...he dies we gonna make him an angel...collective guilt is all i feel...it almose feels more like the right thing to do is just to look the other way and not say a word.....saves having to have a honest look at ourselfs in the mirror

if this was a lesson on something i should have allready known (acceptance) i think i was just reminded again..

u wished u had just one more day with the guy just to apologise..i didnt writte or do anything nasty myself but it makes no difference...when others did it was just eazyer to lough then it was to say the right thing

ok im going to stand up here and i will proably get shot down for this..

but...

my personal opinion is that jackson did not indecently abuse the children that came to his ranch.
i think alot of parents including the children of the kids that went to the ranch saw him as an easy target for some litigation, and due to his eccentric behaviour, the media lent creedence towards this and ultimately demonised the man.

the USA is the most litigious country in the world, heck, when i was in detroit an overweight woman running in high heels took a fall and then asked people around to then get their numbers to "quote" the accident and the un-eveness of pavement.
sheesh, dont be fat and running in high heels, obviously your centre of gravity is gonna be higher and more likely to take a fall.

anyway back to jackson, personally i listened and owned his first group of albums up until dangerous, the rest after that i felt was not the best music he could produce.but undoubtely thriller, off the wall and bad will stand as iconic and seminal albums in the world of pop music.

I was a huge fan of MJ when i was very young.

I stopped listening to his music, after the "child abuse" issues.

I can't seperate a personality from his music, if it goes THAT far (child abuse).

Unfortunately, in US, if you have money and millions of fans, and good lawyers, seams like you can do
everything and get away with it.

And i don't care if he is dead now.

RIP? i don't know. i would say "R". Just Rest.

i am not sad, i am not happy. i simply don't care.

And I agree with shroomy 100%!! (EDIT: not 100%, because i can't seperate his work for pop music from his personality in THIS case)

I don't know whether to think the child abuse stories are true or not. I did watch the documentaries about him and found his behaviour eccentric.

What I feel mostly is that despite his talent, acclaim, money etc, he didn't have a very happy life. Beaten as a child and with all the pressure of fame. I look at the gorgeous little boy and the pictures of him 40 years later, and just think what happened? I'm not so much sad that he died as sad about how he lived.

I don't know if it's just me, but I haven't seen any references to the musical film "The Wiz" in the last 30 years. I've never even seen the film and don't know if it has any good scenes, but have always assumed that it does. Jackson must have been in top form, the cast includes Diana Ross, Lena Horne, Richard Pryor and others, and the director was Sydney Lumet, who did "The Verdict" with Paul Newman. I remember all kinds of television advertisements for The Wiz when it was in the cinemas in the 1970s, but haven't seen a single reference since then. There's a few bits on YouTube, but that seems to be about it.

we dont know anything about him except through what they tell us through the media. and of course, you cant trust the media 100%.

I think alot of people have always liked MJ's music but were afraid to be open about it because they were afraid he might do something more strange or wrong. Now that he has died, it is much safer to say one is a fan of his and of his music. I never enjoyed listening to his music but he obviously was talented.

First of all I'd like to say that I believe a man is more than the mistakes he makes.

And in MJ's case that clearly is the case. The personal issues are just what you get if you don't guide "childstars". They loose every sense of reality and live in a fantasy world.

If you show a little empathie towards his personal life, you must understand that you have to look past that and just be thankfull for his music!

A number of posts are "in reply to me (gj Michelob)" but with highlighted quotes from other members' posts. 'just wanted to clarify for the record that this member does not necessarily share the varoius opinons, in whole or in part. expressed in such posts.

Particularly, if I may, n my conservative catholic upbringing, unconditional respect is owed upon someone’s death.

I liked the Lady Diana’s example, someone made above. Both celebrities who led a rather controversial life, but marked history with it. Their estates are invaluable, as no matter what each took, they returned tenfold, including through the pain they regrettably suffered.

Since a lot of the folk I watched and listened to are falling off the twig now, I'm getting used to it.

I personally think a lot of the sadness felt is not actually mourning for the deceased person, but a mourning for personal memories and an age that you lived through and never will again.

I have a lot of fond memories of listening to Michael Jackson's music back in the 80's. I wished he stopped his facial reconstruction around bille jean era - he was a very attractive man then.

He was brought up in a bizarre environment and I have some sympathy for him. However, the fact that he placed himself in compromising situations with children more than once makes me very suspicious. He got off, but then so did OJ. So I have lingering doubts about the man, and in some ways, his early passing is a relief to me. I don't have to see him fall any further.
