wow! I wish I could play like that when I was his age...

He's so little that he needs to bring his arm over the top of the guitar to reach.
Hmmm, I wonder if anyone makes decent 3/4 sized flamenco for little folks.

LMAO!! wow I can't believe this kid! what a picado..is that for real? His hands are unbelievable. It'd be interesting to see this kids development under the right guidance.
It seems he is under the right guidance so far.

I'm always amazed at how much and how fast a child can actually learn, even at a very early age.

No doubt he's great!!!!

He is only 6, he has a little guitar and I tuned it to Rondeña and he likes to strum it and plunk around and pretend, but he is not serious at all yet. My father was a classical guitar teacher, I can remember only 1 formal lesson that was very short lived when i was maybe 10 or so. I started on my own when I turned 12, but because of electric guitar. I won't push my kid into anything either. Time will tell. As of now he is quite sick of hearing or seeing flamenco!

My daughter has just asked for and recieved her first pair of real flamenco shoes. She is turning 9 this weekend. She has never shown much interest in flamenco, but in the course of the last year or so, I noticed her in her room sometimes with my CD on doing improvised footwoork. A couple of weeks ago she asked her Mommy for a private lesson. We encourage but don't push.

My student Roberto doesn't need to be pushed. He pushes himself and I imagine that is what the deal is with this wonderfully talented boy.

When I was in Dallas recently there was a very talented 12 year old who took my workshop. They are out there for sure.......

As for child prodigies, You may check this archive video of my master's childhood!:

It's not flamenco, however. I think He's a real monster, and not just in classical but in jazz as well....since that he had been playing with Pat Methney, George Benson...winning the european classical competitions as well as the montreaux Jazz competition...

He was about 10, but man, just compare it to Eliot Fisk's version! That guy seems to struggle the piece....

thats really awesome, it must put a massive smile on your face. I have a godson who is almost 3 now, i have sat down with him and explored music a bit, he likes playing with his ukulele but at this stage seems to be more interested in keyboard. it was the most fun i had in ages jammin with him, and i got some really good photo's to show him when he is older

i really would have liked the oppourtunity to be around musicians at that age

"Cute-kid" performances used to really get on my nerves (still do when there's no musicality), but time changes that. Watch out for people who don't change in that sense .

No flamenco here, but it's interesting to see how her fingers get stronger over the years. Most of you have probably already seen this first video. Makes me laugh every time: the little angel with the destroyer thumb!

A few years later, cute as a button and singing a Beatles song:

Cute is fine, but look how she's playing now:
