Humidifiers

Hi there guys, just checking who here uses humidifiers?
and are there like a few brands that are popular in humidifiers?
like fender/gibson to electrics, skb/gator to cases

I'm thinking of whether to get a humidifier for my Anders..

Florian, you live in aussieland, do you use one?

I use a Venta humidifier/air-washer in my den when the humidity gets below 50% in winter and the heating is on.

I use the Oasis....all the time, because of very fluctuating humidity in my room. It also makes the tuning more stable I noticed.

My guitar does enourmously suffer from high humidity.
If it reaches about 70% in summer ist sounds weak and muffled. Absolutely unsatisfying.

I make my own humidifiers. Just use plastic containers, and put a damp sponge
inside, with vent holes in the container. They work a lot better than a lot
of the commercial products. I used to get sharp fret ends in the winter, but
never since I started doing this.

Soap dishes, 35mm film canisters, ziploc bags all work well.

Just make sure whatever you use doesn't drip inside the case, or worse the guitar.

i make my own too. i use a mint candy container. drilled some holes in, tied it to a string. these things can actually put out a lot of humidity.

use a high quality sponge. these dont drip unless they're completely saturated.

i would buy a hygrometer to keep an eye on humidity levels.

an alternative is to just buy a room humidifier. good for the guitars and good for you too.

Do you do anything for the high humidity? I ask because over here the humidity is climbing up to about 78%.

But my guitar is a Yamaha 171sf. I'd probably be scared if it was a more expensive guitar.

I'm not worried about the guitar. I haven't heard of anyone who had damages because of high humidity, but the sound becomes bad.
