Ruben man are you embarrased ? i almost feel bad for you you see this as popularity but you have become like a carricature and everyone is just loughing at you ....this cant be good for your name ...theres alot of guitarrists here with a lot of friends in flamenco...word gets around belive me
Havent you had enough ? take a step back, let it go..find a way to not make it worst..under the circumstances ..silence is a good option for you
belive it or not..i am doing you a favour by suggesting this
youre a great guitarist if you had just left the guitar speak for you ..you would have been a hero..if you have been unfairly missunderstood dont make it worst for yourself by saying even more aand giving them even more amunition..find a way to back out..cause the direction u are going atm is deeper
you have come in like a hurricane and are gonna pass though the foro really quic (cause i cant see you lasting a long time here the way things are developing and u not the first one who confused this attention for popularity or fame...theres a long list of members who came and left quic because they wanted to argue with the whole world and they aand they alone were right in everything they said, couldnt quite grasp the idea of a discussion forum...infact every 3 or 4 months we get one who comes in and goes out even faster) and you gonna go out and are gonna become the biggest foro joke ever
is that what you want ? people always making jokes at your expense even when you not here ? u spend all that time practicing and getting a good technique ..why insist on doing yourself such a diservice
find a way to stop it now before you writte yourself out
what did you think was gonna happen ? how did this play out in your head ? u were gonnna come in here insult members who have been here for years and without knowing anyone or anything about anyone..and try to discredit members, be dissmissive of other opinions and players and everyone was gonna say " well done Ruben , youre great, welcome to the forum...tell us more"

Haha. Assads are my heroes in the classical guitar world. I'm totally jealous. I saw them in Toronto this weekend but was too tongue tied to approach them. Seems like every time I see a famous guitarist I'm starstruck. I also seized up pretty badly when I met Stochelo Rosenberg (whom you may know given you're 'minordjango').

Well I've kissed Rolf Harris!

LOL I hope he kept his didgiredoo to himself. David Bowie once hit on me backstage at a gig. It was plain creepy unfortunately. Still better than the Eric Clapton approach who sent his manager over to ask my friend out on his behalf.
I've never met Paco but have been kissed by more flamenco artists than I can remember though this is pretty normal in Spain where kissing is obligatory !

I think that if you perform with a great performer like Paco or compose something for him that is a really fantastic feather in your cap, but if you just happen to meet someone like that, you know, they are fending off people all day when they're out, but they are usually nice about it. Playing at the same venue with someone like that could go either way. And I have to say it, riding on someone's coat tails is really something that I wouldn't want to do. Playing like Paco is not actually playing as Paco the origional. So on the one hand you can either be respected in your own right, or not.
Making analysis though, is really an honored thing, and I think that scolarship shouldn't be lauged at, as it is a dedicated and hard earned achievement. I wonder how many of you have learned from books or textbooks, you know, without people to create them you would have nothing to go by except lessons and videos, or scores, and what not. Not much of a world for you except to steal everything you've got from great performers like Paco.
And when you think about it, the best thing to be is you, and to play like you play, and to earn it. Otherwise, we are suppose to have modesty in the flamenco, and it is better not to attract attention or make claims, and not getting that is missing out on truth of the matter. We are all just people, and that should be enough to be satisfied anywhere in any situation. And I think that most of you should know that. Gary
