Hi Mike (Taranto),

So are these the guitars in your guitar quiz?

Some unusual designs there....

How did you acquire them?

cheers,

Ron

Hi Ron,

Yes these are the quiz guitars. I'm waiting for Ricardo's opinion, he used to give pretty accurate assessments, but if you tell me that he is busy and wont log in for some time I will end the quiz and tell you which one was which.

The negra is a Pedro de Miguel 1a, the rest are Mike Kinny's (Taranto built them )

Very similar but not quite the same.

When I first designed it I thought it's my unique design. Later when I saw Panorno guitars I thought what's new under the sun.

These are very interesting looking guitars Mike.

So, you're just building as a hobby?

You're a very talented guy!

Mucho respecto!!

I recall when you posted after finishing the guitar on the far right. I like the placement of the pegs in the headstock and the guitars look great. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but in my opinion if you ever choose to make and sell guitars you should consider changing the decorative part of the headstock to something more traditional. The current version you are using might be too plain for some buyers. Who made the negra?

I think you have some really interesting things going on.
I like your experiments but maybe they are a little bit over done.
The one I like the most is the peghead. The 2 things I dislike about it is the veneer on the back of the headstock. It makes it look bulky and the heel I dont like. Not because of esthetics but because I dont like playing with a heel like that. It stops the movement of the hand. But in general that guitar has a nice overall balance in the design.
I too would like to see a closeup of the rosette.
The guitar I like the least, is the Pedro Miguel. (compliments) It looks like a factory guitar compared to your very personal guitars.

Will take some photos when there is sunshine. The one on the far right has a cheap generic russian rosette, so nothing to show there.

I dislike the traditional mosaic rosettes and when I made that guitar I hadn't thought of solid wood rosette alternative.

Steal all you can my friend but if it works and you get rich slide some cash to my direction.

Do you make guitars?

Thanks for the compliments.
Which experiments are overdone?
The heel doesn't bother me when playing. Besides it provides a better anchor between the sides and the heel.

The first one took real long, I didn't have any tools, didn't even know what tools I need or what their names are and so on. So I divided the whole in small tasks like making the neck or bending the sides and focused on that task only, studied that topic, found out what tools and material I need, ordered them, waited for them to arrive, then found out I needed another tool as well, ordered it and waited ... You get the picture.

But now if I wanna make one full time 2 weeks would be enough.
