The Foro server has virtually come to a halt for me at this point.
I just tried to download an attachment in the uploads, which was only 7 megabytes, and im only getting 6kbps, which means about a half hour wait for download. I have a 20 megabyte per second DSL connection.
It took 2 minutes just for the reply window to load up. After another 2 or 3 minutes for the main index to load.
What's up with the foro server???? Its very frustrating, and if it continues i cant see myself coming here much, cause its so time consuming.
It's ok for me over in the UK at the moment but we will get the odd timeout (internal error 500) as the database is the US I'll look into it with the ISP.
I'm in the US midwest and its really been slow the past couple of weeks. I've checked my connection speed and I'm pinging approx 2mb but the Foro is crawling at what seems dial up speed... Sig--
It is slow indeed.. I have been thinking about it.. it is maybe because of the engine, not the server only, asp and so on.. I have been working in this field (www) and we used open source technologies like .jsp (java server page). These kinds of forums requires a lot of performance. Anyway guys, I left my career as a webmaster and everything and started to play flamenco, two years ago, true story!
By the way.. I just learned nice falseta you shared two years ago (JDiaz). Very nice and good execise, and for me, to start with bulerias, slowly like this foro)). It took a time to navigate within these pages but then I found it. Thanks!
Yes, it happens every often as you said and then return. It is not stable. Runs out memory, sql, there a lot of variables, the code itself. But, oh no, here I am again, I don't want to return my earlier life)) But I think, finally, it would be a good idea to change the platform.
Right now the "Today's Posts" link is taking 4 to 7 seconds to load according to a monitoring tool in the USA. That's about 1 MB (Megabytes) per minute.
I'll get this straightened out when I get some time to move it to the US and on the same server.
maybe it has something to do with all the recent mp3 uploads. things are a tad bit slow but it's manageable for me atm. i just hit refresh, or if im downloading something, i hit cancel and start again.

RE: Foro server SLOW (update) (in reply to at_leo_87)
I just did some forum tuning and tweaks to clear things out. Might help.
US and Sydney are not doing so well getting to the UK at the moment - my bet is busy transatlantic Internet traffic with Australia routed through the US.
It can also be true, there is lot of traffic here, and maybe there is not enough scalability with the engine. BTW, years ago we used to take the search function off, when we noticed that there is memory-lost and the site collapsed every now and then.

RE: Foro server SLOW (update) (in reply to Escribano)
Haven’t experienced any Foro functionality issues recently, myself. In general I don’t have specific problems with it, it just either tends to work fine or not work at all. When it works, it works, and when it doesn’t I just get that white screen with the short error message up in the left corner. At this point I’m just kind of used to it and I accept it. The Foro, she isa Spanish, so I just figure she likes to overindulge in her siesta from time to time…
