Prescient
I don't know if I'm being punished for being a bad person, or rewarded for being a good person.
Just at the time I decide I should organise and back up all my files &c, I click on a link to a video and suddenly have no sound.
I have no speaker in the system tray to adjust volume, and when I go to the control panel, it tells me I don't have a soundcard/chipset. I go to the device manager, remove the audio stuff, restart the system and it works again. And then I go click on the link... and no more soundcard. I do this several times.
Around this time I notice that the icon in the system tray for my antivirus program is missing. I can't open the program, I can reinstall it.
If my windows install disk wasn't already in use in another PC I'm slapping together, I'd be reinstalling now.
It seems good timing that I just backed up everything I want to keep.
So... am I lucky... or unlucky? Reminds me of a Taoist fable.
you're lucky because you backed everything up. you can always expect computers to die or fail on you or blow up.
my computer has been acting weird too. the context menu won't pop up when i right click on the programs list from the start menu. i cant figure out why.
i hate the stupid random things that computers do that make you hate your existence.
If you tell them you don´t believe in the bible nor do you believe in a god, they are usually a bit nonplussed: they have not been taught to improvise. Though I like Norman´s idea better
yes, but i bet they would have some back up reply they came up with ahead of time. they can be persistent!
Yeah..
You know, on my very first visit to the United States and arriving at O'Hare Airport with a sense of excitement, like "Wow! I'm really in the US!!", I was walking down the arrivals hall after clearing Immigration/Customs and the very first person I met was a really friendly guy, who came up and shook my hand and asked me where I was from etc. I chatted to him for a bit and then he handed me this book and an LP record as a "welcome" gift to the US....
And then asked me for $30 as a token of respect for the "Hare Krishna" Movement.
Luckily I hadn't exchanged any cash yet, so I had to "reluctantly" give them back...
In general though, I met lots of good people in the States.
As for The Witnesses, I got really tired of spending time arguing with them and now I just say "Nah...it's not for me....hope you have a nice day though folks"...
And they go away!
Why did I ever bother arguing about stuff with them before???
Hi Ron! I'll never forget that picture. You ever have one of those mornings? The alarm doesn't go off, you realize that you've run out of coffee and there's not enough butane gas for the water heater...

It also somehow puts me in mind of Terremoto de Jerez!
Means, i have 2 external hard drives, one is in use for backup the files from my Notebook and the second one is only to backup from the first external HD ..... i read many articles that external HDs use to die often, because there are very cheap now and the quality is not so good (just like the CDs and DVDs you burn).
I would go crazy if all my flamenco stuff would be deleted all of a sudden. It took me years to collect all that stuff.
Duende (mythology), a fairy- or goblin-like creature in Spanish and Latin American mythology
is that what thing is supposed to be?
Bengue, actually. Seriously, it's a common mole. Vaguely reminds me of Peter Max's Blue Meanies from Yellow Submarine. But if you think that's ugly, have a look at the star-nosed mole in the attached photo. Interesting animal. I've read that it uses its mobile nasal tentacles (come here and give me a kiss, baby... ) for examining food, and that its reflexes when eating are supposed to be so fast that they're at the very limit of neuronal speed.
Just be sure not to think about these images right before you fall asleep...

Years ago I knew this crazy old artist who was a recluse in the house he grew up in. At the point I knew him he was close to 80 years old and sported a mohawk. His place was overflowing with piles and piles of junk, books, objects d'art, tapestries etc. One day he was sitting on his front porch, screened in and full of junk, and saw a mother and her daughter coming up his walkway. He thought to flee when he realized they were Witnesses but then decided against it. When they knocked on his screen door he also realized they could not see him where he was sitting (behind an enormous monkey cage) so he called out "Hello!" The Mother then said "We're Jehovah's Witnesses, can we come in and talk to you?" He replied "Sure but I have to tell you that I'm blind and I'm not wearing any clothes".
Without a word they turned around and walked very quickly away from his door.

HAHAHA i would try that but what happens if i get charged with indecent exposure? but... if they're girls and curious ones at that.... well... dear penthouse forum....
So... that star nosed thing... where's the rest of its face?
I don't know; I've only just become aware of what these animals look like. They don't seem to have much in the way of eyes or ears, and I guess the mouth is in the grey-brown area under the nose. If you're really interested, there are more photos and even a video available through Google. It looks a lot less frightening in the video!
