Beginning accompanying/singing

I have a friend who I've just gotten into flamenco, he's a singer and wants to learn a bit of cante. Does anyone know of any good tools online (or even books/DVDs, I suppose) for learning a bit of basic cante? There are workshops every now and then in NYC but it's a bit far from campus Also, I've been playing guitar for a couple of years but don't know much about accompanying and I'd like to be able to provide a basic rhythmic base for the cante.....are there any good resources for learning to accompany? (I'm learning FdH with my teacher now and don't want to interrupt that, though maybe he'll teach me some accompaniment basics afterwards!)

check out oscar herrero's solea and por alegria accompaniment dvds, the books have the letras as well, he does three types in each book and styles related to alegrias and solea like polo, cana cantinas etc. i have both these dvds and they are great study material
