RE: Turkish/Tangos Fusion ! (in reply to Arash

Here they are on a famous turkish TV show:

The moderator of that shows said they became popular with , which i also posted here some months ago (its much better...). They have an album now out.

It appears both TWINS are accomplished musicians. He was in Spain and she seems to have an education on piano and violin (and of course singing and flamenco dancing). There is also "puro" stuff from them with their bigger groups on YouTube with dance accompayning and these flamenco things...

So i look forward in hearing more from them. They combine both styles VERY tastefully. Rythmic elements from flamenco, and melodies from turkish folk songs. They are VERY successfull. I wish them the best, they deserve it

I like that. The fusion is working. I'd like to be able to sing while playing too. :)

Oy Oy Oy Oy Oy!......Q!!

I still love this song like last time, and good for them they made it big, but....

It is the ONLY song they have done it seems! I saw the "flamenco" show that had her in it, but that was not flamenco for sure.

If anyone finds more stuff, please post it!

I love it! I agree with Deniz, very tasteful fusion, not flamenco and yet paradoxically Very flamenco...what a great thing to wake up to...and she is stunning!

Ricardo, on YouTube there is only one more video where they are performing (also from TV but different show). Apart from that there appears where they took part in a Farruca for example with "Ilgaz Benekay". But they arent performing. The only interesting thing is, because the video is from 1999 you can calculate that they already started flamenco with 17, which is not usual for outside Spain i guess.

I will post some samples here when i receive the album. They have 2 or 3 more fusion tracks on it, and the rest is flamenco i think.

I like it too but not as much as the first clip which Deniz posted a while ago. That seemed really relaxed and natural. The later stuff is a little bit more commercial, but I guess that's what happens with a little success.

And here you can check out the album

www.oykuberk.com

I like especially the Buleriasses and Solea por Buleria. The text is turkish, so its experimental

@Ailsa: i know what you mean. But they will reach more people with a well produced video. For the insiders it will be always clear, if someone is flamenco or not.

Hey Deniz, I looked at the site and listened to the samples from the album. I'd like to buy it - do you know where? I googled it and it said it was available on www.elflamencovive.com, but when I searched there couldn't find it. Other suggestions?

Im not sure, but you could try emailing these adresses on this website ("iletisim" means contact): http://www.oykuberk.com/iletisim.html

The album was released on 18th, so maybe it takes time until elflamencovive recieves it.
