Popular Song Flamenco Falsetas

A cool guitar riff that I always liked was the intro to Guns 'n' Roses Sweet Child o Mine. Can that be made into a falseta, Tango or other? Is that sacrilidge to even say that? I'm a noob so please forgive me...

I know Todd posted the Hotel California sounding falesta - which was pretty cool, although I haven't figured out in my head how it would be incorporated into a Bulerias yet. I still haven't figured out how to perform the falseta convincingly myself and want to work on that - maybe I'll try and simplify it a bit for my level. Anyways, would you introduce it from a brake? It would be cool is some of the advanced players could comment or post an example.

Any other popular song sounding falsetas?

A falseta is a variation, and if you had something to make a variation on I don't see any reason why not. It's better than not knowing what music you're playing is based on, so have at it. I think this is a question for everyone though, 'you gotta give the foro a little credit.....

I mean if you're trying to learn a particular falseta that you took off the web, and it's based on a particular melody taken from a song, and you never even heard that song and you have never heard anything like it, you could not say that you know the falseta just because you think you can play it with compas. I think that is a common mistake that people make when they collect falsetas without knowing where it came from. It's the draw of a particular name like Paco, or Vincente, that becomes a little misleading without any knowlege of basis for the music. You do that you gotta do your homework. Sometimes I think it's better to make up your own falsetas based on particular melodies that you know. Then again that is my own opinion.....

Ok, thanks. I am not at the skill level to do it yet - but I would love to here if someone was to try. It does have a nice pedal tone to it that I think would work. One day I may give it a go, maybe it will be my first upload.

What about my other question, how would you introduce and end the 'hotel california' falseta so it doesn't stand out there? Anybody actually using it?

As a falseta you could use just a piece or parts of the melody and make it a thing of your own, that is you don't have to recreate the whole song. But, I would work on it until your ideas are strong and then record. You could make the introduction and ending anything you want. It's your baby! Play out different ideas until you have it. That's the joy of composing.

Your ideas are good, they have to be or you just have to believe in yourself just a little....how are people able to do anything?
