chord forms sabicas question
I endeavor to practice the sabicas stuff, mostly the Faucher transcribed stuff, most of it is pretty straightforward with some minor quicrks, like Bronce Gitano etc. Some stuff however, like in Aires de puerto real, in Rey de Flamenco, I find some of the chord forms and changes really hard to do at any speed. In the beginning ras, the chord changes from 7 8 9 7 9 to 8 pretty quickly and I find that transition impossible at speed. Likewise there is an arpeggio that resembles the one in Capricho and if that isnt bad enough it goes to ornamentations like in Capricho. Ok, I understand it is different than my pedestrian major minor chord playing, but the question begs, is Faucher really hearing this right when he transcribes it? I'm sure he is very accuracte, but he might hear one note different than another particularly at the speed in which Sabicas is playing this stuff. Likewise, I'm sure Sabicas, like Hendrix and a lot of blues artists never played the same thing twice the exact same. Are these voicings typical in flamenco and sabicas style? And could these interpretations be off particularly considering the speed ? Its either that some of this stuff is off or I need to knuckle down and try harder. (gee I wonder which one will apply) on to you.
