These people will make guitars to your design so that you can sell them with whatever label you want.

This is nothing new: Reyes, Conde, Pedro de Miguel etc all sell "student" guitars, made by someone else but with their label.

However, they normally use reasonably good quality factories in Valencia: cheap mass produced guitars from China is another concept.

So Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Branding means they will make it under any label you want? In other words they copy the label too... In which case, it is exactly the opposite of "Original" . . . or am I misunderstanding?

What is a fake?
Supermarket ‘own label’ instant coffee is not made by the supermarket, but by another company. This company often makes coffee for other supermarkets as well. Everyone knows this happens and we don’t usually call this ‘fake coffee’. Often the supermarket will insist that the coffee is made to a particular standard and the cosmetic details (packaging in this case) will also be specified.
OK, guitars are not quite the same as instant coffee but a lot of guitar makers have guitars made by other makers (or factories). The design and cosmetic details may be specified. Some makers are more up front about who makes their guitars than others. I don’t think these should be called fakes although a bit more honesty from some makers would be a good thing.
If I make a guitar (or modify another one) that looks like guitar from a famous maker, stick in a label that looks like that makers’ label, this is a fake.
Here is the label of a ‘half-moon’ fake 2001 Conde A26 that appeared on ebay some time ago with the label from a genuine one of the same period. Note the differences in design and number of the small blocks in the border. (Note Conde A26 labels changed in about 2003 so you cannot compare with the current label).

One of my friends bought a Gibson classical in India for about $50... but he thinks it might be a fake because the transfer on the headstock says 'Givson'...
I also had a genuine Epiphone classical, quite nicely made for about $150, and it was also 'Guaranteeb for 3 years', the label said...

Good practice for labelling a guitar.
I like these - they say who is selling and who is making.
