2 years here and now I find a pena!

So, there is a new pena near me ( I saw the poster). You have no idea how hard that is around here, really. No money in it you see?

So the guy telling me about this place, is part of the family and tells me that the bar we are in was also once a pena. Then he shows me a little photo of himself with PDL from the 70s or 80s, in the same bar.

I am going next Saturday night to the new pena but hold out little hope. If it is the real thing, I am going to move heaven and earth to make sure it stays for a while.

You guys would not believe how little flamenco is supported around here, in spite of all the hype and perception.

p.s. the next day I am going to Morroco. Promise another silly video

Hi Simon

I hope the peña is great. The problem is that Granada is not really flamenco country and people dont really care to much about flamenco. If you go to other Andalucian provinces, there are a lot of peñas in the villages. One of the things I have in mind when I´m going to move is to have a nice peña near. Thats what I would really love to have.

Maybe you should offer some of your time in the peña, make some movies, post them on the internet, invest a bit of energy. I´m sure you´ll get twice back. (good for your spanish as well

Anders

Good idea, I'll talk to them about it.

Nope, it's called Barriada La Paloma in Padul. Opposite the BP gasolinera. I'll check it out and let you know.
