thumb reststrtokes

I was just wondering.
When you play scales accompanied by thumbstrokes, do you still do reststrokes with the thumb ?
I find this very difficult to do, especially when i-m is on b-string and thumb on the d-string.

Thanks in advance.

if i play something like Panaderos flamencos i do free strokes with I, m during the first theme and rest and free with my thumb.

the hardest for me is to play ,i and P at the same time.

Get used to doing i or m free simultaneous with bass string rest stroke. Also, i and m REST stroke with bass note free. And finally i or m AND bass note rest stroke. It really depends on the music or sound you want. The "difficulty" is more mental than physical I find with myself and students.

The long descending scale in Panaderos that paco does, the bass notes are free stroke, but the picados are constant rest strokes. But there will be times you need to do both rest. Think of it like you are "pinching" the strings. It gets easier and more natural with practice. For students that have some classical background, I use the Bach Bouree in E minor to practice this. First all free. Then with resting basses. Then free basses resting trebles. Finally all rest.

Thank you guys. Now I at least know where I'm at. I thought it just was not-done to use free thumb strokes in flamenco. Thank you.

No Henrik, save yourself the trouble. I think I dont need a video.

And Ricardo thaaaannnnkkksss for the additional advice.
