Looking for Flamenco guitar instruct...

Can anyone please recommend a Flamenco Guitar Instructor in the Bay Area? I would like to study and have studied flamenco on and off for the last 5 years. I want to study with a Flamenco player, not a classical player who tries to teach flamenco. Also, are there any dance classe where one can begin to accompany?

Thank you

I don't live in Bay area, but I have been taking flamenco guitar lessons from Adam del Monte at https://www.newlearningvision.com . They offer excellent lessons and I signed up for a couple of them so far (Tangos II, Rasgueado package), I've learned a lot from these so far. The lessons are in the form of streaming flash video. Hopefully this helps

You might drop this guy a line:

rcspross@pacbell.net

A nice guy who teaches classical. I would guess he would know some flamencos around there.

iflamenco:

I checked out the newlearningvision site and it could be very useful for me. One question though, are you allowed to download the lessons and save them to your harddrive? My problem is a slower connection (256 DSL) and it took me about 20 min to stream the 7 min sample lesson. It played fine after that, but when I left the site and returned to it to review, I had to stream it again which took another 20 min or so.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Adam's lessons are streaming video. I haven't figured out how to save streaming video to my harddrive, although I know it's possible. I bought the Alegrias lesson. You should check it out, Gecko..it has a couple of Alegrias falsetas in E.

I e-mailed their support section and they gave me a "possible" solution. I'm going to try it today and if it works I'll post it in the Resources Section with a subject of "Saving Streamed Lessons."

Agustin Rios in the East Bay. He's the real thing, from Moron a nephew of Diego del Gastor. Another great player would be Ricardo Diaz.

Also, check online at www.sfflamenco.com. Mostly dance teachers are listed, but where there are dance classes, there are guitarists most of whom teach. Adam del Monte's online stuff is great as well, but nothing beats a live teacher.

Jason McGuire, Kenny Parker, Jorge L.(plays for Virginia Iglesis), Augustin Rios, David Gutierrez. Those are the guys in the Bay Area who have a lot of teaching experience.

Five years? What is it you want to learn?

Dance Class- 26 7th st 5th floor.
