Technique question : ami1 votes

I noticed that in a lot of bulerias the "ami" arperggio's are used.
Sometimes in other palos too. Like the beautiful granadinas from quique paredes or an alegria I heard from pedro sierra.

my question: when the ami arperggio is used do all fingers free strokes. Or is it common to do "a" with reststrokes. Or maybe all three with reststrokes.
What's the best way to get speed in it ?

That's a good question! I often wondered about it too. I was watching Vicente and it seems to me that he always plays "a" with a rest stroke. I guess that is where his strong arpeggios come from....I don't know. And his intro in "Gitano De Lucia"..... got to be rest strokes...

In Callejon de luna Amigo plays sections of ami arpeggios (no thumb) rest stroke. When you add a thumb the i and m will be free stroke (as the hand position must change and rest strokes are difficult) and the "a" can either be free or rest - depends on whether you want to accent it.

Makes sense to me.
