first ding, damn it!

so i've only had my new blanca a month and i just noticed a small ding i put in the headstock on the top of it. don't remember doing it, it just kind of magically appeared. pisses me off but oh well, now i can relax a bit.

i try and baby my guitars, they are always in the case or on my lap only, but i'm a dinger by nature. you look at my camera gear and my car and they look really well USED.

i've always been amazed and curious about people who have cars for ten years that still smell and look brand new.

you guys dingers? or are you guys the type that can sell guitars years later and have it listed as showing no nail marks or wear?

I have only ONE "ding" in my blanca. And it happened on the first day I got it!!! Since then, I always keep it in its case when I'm not playing it. There's nothing wrong with a guitar that looks well used, but sometimes when it comes to re-selling a guitar, the condition can affect its value.

So, I try and be careful with my guitars. But one thing that gets on my nerves is people who tie the ends of their strings into little circles or loops... there must be a name for them... "string-loops" maybe? Anyway, I just cut then ends of my strings off with pliers.

i think the first ding is always the toughest. now i can relax and start using it to open beer bottles.

the bellido is fantastic and i can't put it down which i guess is the minimum requirement for judging if a guitar works for you. my practice time has at least doubled since getting it. granted i'm still a lousy player but now my unrhythmic hacking sounds brighter, crisper and more dry.

I have to admit that i'm one of those string loopers

. well but it's not a beautyfactor. it often happens to me that the strings split near the bridge. then i can still use these strings, though it is of course better to put new ones on it. it once rescued a performance.
