Yes that's hard to describe, I guess you know it when you hear it.

Your post reminded me of a Springstein story. Apparantly he went to the Motown studios with his producer to record. They got in early and started getting ready, bringing in their instruments. The manager arrived and saw them carrying out the studio drum kit and said " What the hell are you doing ?" Springstein replied that they were after that special Motown sound and the manager shook his head and said
" Well son it just left the building"
