Flamenco Song help

I really love the upbeat style of this Spanish Flamenco song named "Gypsy Flame":
http://www.geocities.com/alexandergreat3/Gypsy_Flame.mp3

And I was wondering if anyone knows of any similar versions that are just a bit slower, or other songs that have the similar beat and style? :)

Thank you in advance!

PS: I'd really appreciate if anyone could tell me where I can get a list of, say, "Top 10 or 20 Flamenco songs". :) Thanks again!

Here is a great collection of flamenco. It looks like it's not available on Amazon, but if you google it, I'm sure you'll find it somewhere:

Hi Miguel,

Thank you for the link. The collection of songs on the link you gave me are Flamenco, but they aren't purely instrumental like the "Gypsy Flame", which is what I'm looking for - pure guitar :).

If you or anyone know of any good songs/albums like the "Gypsy Flame,"
http://www.geocities.com/alexandergreat3/Gypsy_Flame.mp3

please let me know. Thank you :).

MusicMan,
The audio clip is only 9 seconds long! Its a bit hard to understand what style you like! If you tell us some names of the actual guitarists whose music you like, then it might give a better idea of what sort of thing you're after. But it sounds suspiciously like Nuevo Flamenco. try this compilation:

But bear in mind that there is a difference between "New/Nuevo" Flamenco and traditional Flamenco.

That clip is by Armik, who I think is a Nuevo Flamenco guitarist. You were right on about it being a Nuevo Flamenco

The style of Spanish music that I really like is energetic and passionate Spanish guitar and dance music that is usually used in films. A good example I can think of is the music from the film "The Mask of Zorro":

I'm not sure what type of music that is :). Thank you for your help :).

Well, Armik has about a dozen albums. That should get you started :). You may enjoy Strunz and Farah, a very talented duo. However, they do not have the frenetic energy of Armik. I don't think anyone does.

But you might also listen to Jesse Cook, Ottmar Liebert. Try to find a copy of Taber and Garibay (Garibay is my duo partner here in Phoenix).

Hi MusicMan,
The CD I already recommended to you has some Armik on it, and also some Strunz and Farah. But I would recommend buying Strunz & Farah's "Live" album or "Americas"- they are great!

Another excellent act are Rodrigo Y Gabriela: www.rodgab.com They are my favorite Nuevo Flamenco duo, and I never get tired of their music. you can here a sample song here:

One of the forum members, Jon Boyes, has just released a CD too. If you do a quick search you should find it. I'd guess you might like that one too.

Good luck!

James
