lessons to learn but will he listen(...

Best advice I could find out of 71 replies.

Esrcibano, When someone says slow down, as in many things in life, I would try and listen. Samwise, ....fire, aire, it's all the same, que no?

Chin up, brother
Duende, There were plenty of musical ideas, but they were choped off before they became something, 1 stay in a solid compas, man you should realy obscess about compas for a year. 2 Develope these ideas. They need to be longer and go places. There were a good one you started with some run going from low E to hige e and then it just went dead. But that "race car" or "sinking ship" is going here and there and it´s all about compas.
your a good player so why ignore such an important factor of flamenco. But that "race car" or "sinking ship" is going here and there and it´s all about compas.
Todd, As you drift further and further away.........

Still waiting to hear you get through a simple slow Solea falsetta. Deniz,Yeah flamenco can be very aggressive, but i mean, at last we're makin music here! Its not weight lifting, or boxing. Your strokes were even the best thing in the video. Though you really have exaggerated the strummings, but that is the least important part here.
Ps: I have nothing against many strumming sections, but there should be variations of strumming.

I DIDN'T POST ALL THE POSITIVE OR SUPER NEGATIVE COMMENTS, JUST THE ONES THAT WHERE CLOSE TO BEING HELPFULL.

You will notice that Duende had the most advice(thanxs)

JUst wanted to point out that out of 970 hits and 71 replys.

The above comments are the only good advice I could find, other than the realy nasty things said and all the wonderfull compliments.

So in hindsight is it worth it to upload stuff that isn't perfect,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,YESSS

JUst wanted to say that if I take these comments seriuosly I will progress yet again.
THis should set an example for everyone to learn to upload no matter what your level is on the guitar or your recording capabilities.

I would like to point out that I have a website because I want to get better and have something meaninfull to show for my life when I'm older.
I don't have it to pretend that I'm some famous guitar player, I am not perfect and mean no offense to any other more advanced players that me,
Especially with Flamenco players, anyway I get the impression that some people don't like me because of something else or some kind of stupid jelousy.

So just, wanted to say that I have a lot of respect for music and it's different forms.
Yes I play to fast, need to slow down and feel the compas, dig in with my thumb more, phrase out my own ideas a little longer, learn a simple solea falseta. ha hah ha.

And by the way for almost a 1000 hits and 71 replys, I'm not happy with the amount of good advice compared to garbage on the Arts Festival post.

Any way, I thought this was a creative post to show how much wasted space my thread got.

And thanx to everyone.

much respect to all even ones they said it sucked.

Very creative, Edgar :) You have a lot of personality and some people can't handle that, but just keep on being yourself, my friend.

Remember that people who criticize in a negative, unhelpful fashion are not even talking about you, they are just showing their own problems. Hopefully some of these people can realize that the bald guy with the goattee and tatoos has feelings too. I've seen people realize that, even on this forum.

The trick is to realize which comments, even though they hurt, are actually going to help. Looks like to me that you are learning that. It's going to be fun to watch you progress in flamenco. You should check out this guy named Nino Jero. He's from Jerez, I think, and he reminds me of you--hardcore flamenco! :)

Edgar,
I don't even know if he records, he lives in Jerez, Spain from what I gather. I saw him play at a festival in Moguer and he rocked the house! I seriously think you would like his attitude. When you make your Spain trip, you'll have to look him up.

Come on now, you were helpful, but you were more kind than you were giving out handfuls of advice. Believe me I love compliments.

Well, I stayed outta that one. And quite rightly so.

Edgar, you'd do well to remember the short Miguel De Maria quote that Samwise posted about the aspiring cello player:

quote:

A businessman met a great and respected retired cellist, and said, "Maestro do you remember me?" The maestro said, sorry he did not. The businessman said, "Really? I was studying cello, and they told me I had lots of talent. So I was given the great privilege to play for you. And you told me 'You lack the fire.' Based on your advice, I quit and tried my hand at business. So you don't remember that?" The maestro shrugged. "Sorry, but I have listened to thousands of aspring cellists play. And I always tell them the same thing: 'You lack the fire.' The ones who lack the fire, quit. The ones who have the fire, they don't listen to anybody, anyway, and they'll make it no matter what anyone says!"

But do take note of any criticisms made in the original thread and use them to improve your playing if you think you need to. Its important to be humble enough to learn from any mistakes... otherwise you'll never improve.

Alternatively, if you like the way you play and don't want to change it, then just carry on regardless.

Success in any musical genre is not an easy path. I wish you good luck, and hope that you find the right mental attitude to succeed.

It had crossed my mind to post some of the basic falsettas I had learned, but from the response to your work (which is much better than anything I can play), I'll certainly think twice before doing so in the future!

Good luck!

See, that's the problem when people are discouraged from posting their work because of immature responses. We're a self-policing group here and I think the message is getting across.

J, I hope you don't let it stop you. I would love to hear what you've come up with, and I'm sure you'd get some good advice.

Yes I would say don't let it stop you. It does not stop me, though I know that when I upload something it's overshadowed ( english ? ) by a lot of others here.

Cheers,

James,
I don't know why, but that story put me in mind of a joke someone told me.

This rich cockney guy (Alan Sugar type) is being interviewed by the BBC...

Interviewer: "So I take it, life was pretty tough around the East End in those days?"
Cockney: "Oh yeah...me Mum brought all six of us up in a a single, cold-water room...many's the time we went to bed hungry."
Interviewer: "So how did you start then?"
Cockney: "Well, when I was 12, I used to go to Covent Garden, buy a heap of slightly bruised apples for a penny each and take them back and shine them up until they looked lovely rosy red and sell them in the street to the passers by at threepence each.

Later on, when I was 18 I got rid of the barrow and got into bikes.
I would pick up old bikes for scrap, or pennies,..strip them all down to the bare metalwork, respray them and build each of them back up again until they looked brand, spanking new...and resell them at a fiver each.

Interviewer: " Then what happened?"

Cockney: " Well, one day, when I was 21, I got a letter saying that an Uncle of mine whom I never knew, had died and left me his lot...£2,000,000.....

So I thought...**** all that apples and bikes sh*t!! "

cheers

Ron
